That's weird, why is the normal 5-door Evoque driving around in camo?

Used to see UK regd LRs at Tata Elxsi often, but never like this.

Is this an Int'l scoop of the Evoque facelift?

Re: Supercars & Imports : Kerala

Could this be the new Freelander being tested on the Evoque platform and wearing Evoque clothing? Autocar Uk and many others had posted spy shots of the same few months back.

Judging by the extension at the rear, this is the planned Evoque XL which slots between the Range Rover Sport and the Evoque. Rumored to have an alloy platform (source - Autocar Magazine 7 Nov 2012)

Some more international snapshots of the XL RR Evoque,

From this angle the LWB is clearly seen;

Also note the similar VX 62 no. plate found in the Indian spy shot too

Heard from a very reliable source that this new car from JLR was there in technopark since a few weeks for some programming inputs by Tata Elxsi engineers.

This looks more like a Next-gen Freelander Mule as stated by various International automotive publications.

First time seeing a UK-reg Test Mule in India.

Without meaning to sound pedantic, isn't it ILLEGAL to drive these around with an UK plate and without a Carnet or TC sticker on front and back? After all it is non-homologated right?

Even if Technopark is a private park, what if it (God forbid) runs over someone? Curious to know!

Even looks like a TVM cop in the first picture :-). Trust me in Bangalore any cop with self respect would have officiously jumped on the vehicle by now ;-)

Not sure about the legal part here but‚ this guy was driving very sensibly showing proper signals‚ stopping at turns and strictly adhering to the speed limit of 20/25 kmph inside the IT park. Those are not traffic cops but the home guards (not sure though) who are responsible for controlling traffic at the entrance and inside the IT park.

Re: Scoop - Range Rover Evoque XL spotted on test in India

Glad to see a mule bing worked upon here in India. Valid point on the legal status of the car. Should have the Indian red testing plates etc or the carnet I'd marks. By the way anyone have pics of what it should look like. Never seen the sticker someone was talking.

She does seem to carry a lot of rear overhang, a departure from the classical Evoque proportions, but I guess she'll pull it off.

Re: Scoop - Range Rover Evoque XL spotted on test in India

Is it possible the Evoque XL could be assembled in India? Maybe JLR have declared this before they started testing and hence are free from any import tax declaration.

Assembling the Evoque in India would definitely bring down the steep pricing it currently holds.

Perfectly legal. It has definitely been brought in via the Carnet system : Link to more information

Re: Scoop - Range Rover Evoque XL spotted on test in India

IAB suggests this is the next generation Freelander which shares the Evoque's platform and not any version of Evoque itself - Link
