These were taken around the last week of March. I can check if the Volvo is still there when I visit the parking next time.

The car that you saw last weekend is a different one. Did you see it in ECR Road? So far I have seen 3 cars with TN37 registration Volvo station wagons with the same color.

You're right, that was a different car. TN37 plates but a different number, turns out that one belongs to a gent in Chennai with a tasty youngtimer/classic car lineup. Didn't know there were three in the same color!

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

I saw this abandoned Mercedes diesel near Sholapur Road, Bijapur. It was next to a very clean Sierra. The paint was slowly chipping away and the car had no headlamps, grill ornaments or badges either.

More like it belonged to a real estate developer who then sold it off to someone who didn't bother changing the registration details on the car and soon found out that he is totally incompetent at maintaining this whale of a car because every thing costs 10 times as much as it should.

And so, he/she dumps it on the road because he can't find another chump who would take such a horrible deal.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Spotted this modified Toyota Hi-ace with a TV and a fridge. The van was at a resort. The staff there told me that it has been abandoned due to unavailability of parts.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Chanced upon this older Range Rover in Nungambakkam, Chennai, with a KA 03 registration. The fact that it is an out of state registration leads me to believe that it could be in running condition, and the fact that it looks well maintained reinforces it. However, the tyres worry me!

This one seems to be the same car which is parked in front of a petrol pump near JMC, Chankyapuri. It might be the same car or a similar one which has been parked there.

Yes, that is where it was spotted. Heavily modified, probably out of necessity. (Difficult to source bumpers, lights etc. locally.)

Have been seeing different cars at this place since the past few years. Most of the cars seem abandoned/junked/damaged including a heavily modified C200 Kompressor with a V6 engine swap, a Red Ferrari 458 ( most probably a kit car or a mod job as all the panels seemed to be misaligned and plasticky), a Jaguar XF with a wrap and Land Rover Defender (not the latest generation). The C200 and the Ferrari disappeared in Jan 2021 and the Jaguar and Land Rover disappeared around September last year. The only car that remains there is this blue Toyota. One time I asked about the cars at the petrol pump while filling my car up, the guy was very shady and said "They all belong to the owner and they are not for sale, I can't tell you anything more.". I didn't click any pictures during those times as I was not aware about this thread at that time.

Regards
Akash
