I was offered the car for 1.75 before i saw it was junk. I returned without making any offer because the guy showing me the car had a huge attitude as if he was doing me a favour. I politely told him that had he informed me about the sad condition of the car i would have not wasted my and his time.
A day later the price came down to 1.25 and a few days later to 100K. I didnt think she was worth it even then. i just told him i was not interested in junk. He never called after that nor has the car moved an inch since then.

It is really very very expensive doing up an odd BMW classic. Even abroad, the parts are not cheap.

Had posted this elsewhere very recently, but can't find the thread. Anyway, location is Kala Ghoda. Pains me to see it this way.

Thanks Gogiji. I guess it's more appropriate in this thread than in that one.

That is a pathetic sight. Just imagine the glorious days when it was imported and now lying as a canvas for local blokes armed with spray paints

I cannot understand one thing, why do the owners of this magnificent cars import the car if they cannot handle them and also if they dont need it then why dont they sell it off instead of letting it rot(or atleast give it to a poor chap like me, I wouldn't mind )

richie most likely car has changed million owners since import and last couple were either not able to really afford upkeep of such a car (read wanna's/posers) which is when you typically see them abandoned as even if the car was still with the original importer it would either be fixed and run for sentimental value or disposed of to a breaker who would at least give some junk value for parts and not leave it on the road like uncivilised riff raff

Not only the money, but also time. Old cars need a lot of attention in keeping things going. And when they need repair, you need to spend time in sourcing parts + finding a good independent mechanic. Some people with busy work schedules simply cant afford the time!

I am thinking of a classic Merc, but the only reason I am hesitating is due to this factor. As things stand today, my Jeep takes up a substantial amount of my automotive hours.

Muzzammil, I saw this at Nagole. Enroute from Kothapet to Nagole, there is a auto garage near Mohan Nagar, I saw this there a couple of days back. Its there in his garage. Hope he still has it. I have seen it a couple of times there.
