Heard a figure of around Rs. 65 lakhs for the Bentley Arnage. Don't know if the figure includes duties and registration fees. It would have costed around 3-3.5 crores in 2008 (just a guess).

Agree on your earlier statement on quicker auctions though.
OMG!!! I didn't mean MPs when I said VIPs...

Dignitaries from other countries or even the President.

The pres needs an armoured vehicle.. he currently uses an S guard iirc.. i guess same should apply for dignitaries as well.. but i see your point.. there are better uses for these cars, than just letting them rot..

re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

The highest bid on the Blue Bentley is 75 Lacs. The buyer will have to register the car again in his or her state. So 75+Registration+Repairs.!

BMW X5 sold for 33Lacs.
Passat for 9.5
On-going bid for Arnage is 37,55,000. The bidding is still going on.

Confiscated cars are usually auctioned off. But Dilip Vishwanathan, who is in charge of over 140 confiscated cars and motorcycles at the Mumbai Port Trust, has other plans for some special machines. Top Gear explores the hidden garages : http://www.topgear.com/india/car-gal...urrentid=14022

Seen in 2007 - now may become a part of this thread. No pics at the moment - but have seen it lying around with some junked cars.

Chiragh - I dont think that BMW is there anymore at that place.

Regular travellers to Lonavala will recognise this RR Silver Shadow parked at a bungalow for more than 10 years. The car is deteriorating - wonder why the owner does not sell it or restore it or even bother to get it washed.

If this is the car that I recently saw - it MAY make its way to this thread. Seen it parked at a petrol pump and was dusty.

Unfortunately, the motors are not it good shape to do this now and she doesn't look soo pretty these days. The interiors have wooden panels, a luxurious feature. You can see that they are still in decent form.

Everything about the car seems original. The driver also maintained that the car still has the power and pickup as it used to in its early days.

Also seen a the following :
  • Gen 2 Porsche Cayenne with a busted suspension (possibly) with a lot of bird poop over it and very (very) dirty.
  • BMW 5 GT with a busted suspension parked in a lane.
  • Mercedes S320 (W220) in a bad condition.

These are just a few amongst a lot of other abandoned / rusting imports seen lately. Highlighted these because they are newer cars.

I myself used to think this to be a Silver Shadow ever since I first saw it years ago till someone recently told me it's a Corniche. Can someone clear out which model is it exactly?

Hey ///RMan, yes the Silver Shadow can be easily mistaken for a Corniche from the dead front. However the Corniche washer only manufactured as a convertible and never a 4 door sedan. This one is a 4 door sedan.
