Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

That is a facelift e30. Post 1988.

The front valance, bumpers, headlights are a clear giveaway.

Hope it can be saved.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

This is sacrilege. Agreed it can't be maintained. Clean it, polish it, park it in the driveway as throwback to to bygone era. Park it in your farmhouse as an expensive artifact but please for "Spirit of Ecstasy" sake, don't do this.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Agree with you Bandhav - the problem is that this car is lying unsold with a dealer for almost 4 years. Being exposed to all the elements - dust, bird poop, rains, scorching heat etc - all this takes a huge toll on the car.

And an asking price of the moon means that the car is not going to be sold for the next couple of years as well. In such cases, instead of keeping the car in such a condition - it would have been wise to sell it a collector for a lesser price.

I have also heard that the Lonavala Rolls Royce Silver Shadow is on sale through this dealer. Anyone looking to buy either of these RRs can contact him.

The greater amount of content in this thread is courtesy of Europeans but recently this new trend of Japanese biting the dust is being seen here. A little difficult to stomach.

Most of the Japs you see on this thread are lying around because of documents related issues as most of them have crossed the 15+ year old mark and the owners are facing re-registration related issues. I know of a Pajero in Nasik & Tercel in Pune wherein the cars were drivable but either the owner has passed away or the docs were having issues.

True Asit! Most Jap cars - like the Accord / Corsa / Corolla / Carina / LC / Prado / Pajero - which were hot imports 2 decades ago are now due for their fitness / passing. Their value today is almost NIL and maintenance of the same is far from NIL - unless they are in an extremely good condition. Hence instead of spending thousands on it to prepare it for an FC or regular use makes no sense. Owners would rather sell them and invest in a newer vehicle which gives lesser headache and more features.

Still - sad to see these cars being abandoned.

I just saw an abandoned Volvo V40 in Ahmedabad.

The car was looking mediocre and only had damage in the front.

Wonder what is stopping this from being salvaged for parts at least. It does not deserve this!

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

I've been spotting this Mercedes Benz C-Class for the last few years lying in the same spot in Chennai that has been quite literally run into the ground.

Sad, but understandable. These cars in running condition are worth no more than 2 - 3 lakhs. One major air-con job can cost Rs. 80,000 + 10 days of work + ripping out the entire dashboard. The 3rd or 4th owner was only lured by the badge and simply isn't interested in keeping it in top shape. When problems come up, they find no one willing to take it off their hands, so...

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Spotted this in Hennur, Bangalore. Could someone please help in identifying this car? I have absolutely no clue what it might be, and I don't have pics of the rear.

Stumbled upon these monsters in a really sorry state outside Hyperpower in Turbhe, New Mumbai. There were many more Mercs and Audi's, below are a few pics of a W12 A8 and an S600 AMG (Not sure if it was just a badge job).
