The cost of getting these vehicles back to UK and then selling them there would be higher than the sale value the insurance co will get. Its better off if they sell it here but then again the taxes here will be equal to a new car I wouldnt want to be the insurance guy who has to deal with this kind of situation....
Agreed, these cars will have no value! Plenty of cases to be resolved to be resolved:

1: Was proper duty paid? DRI vs importer vs registered owner
2: Who is the legal owner ? insurance co vs reg owner
3: Evidence of cheating - Reg owner vs importer
4: Maybe improper reg procedures - RTO vs reg owner

If i am not mistaken it was the Toyota tercel. Probably a diesel Model. Loads of them were imported in Bombay back in the 90's

re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

@speedy and V12

any ideas as to whats the history with the 7series in the 2nd pic?
lying there in andheri housing soicety since a long time its a DL registered car.

few years back it was a daily runner as i used to see it always clean and shiny and the car used to go out at times too.

Its Super saddening to see the E46 in such a state, is the same car that belomg to uday patel actor and was stuck in a tax scandal ? And was hidden and shifted to various places to be kept away from IT department?
