Unsure if this is an imported W124 or an Indian manufactured one. Parked in Film City Road, Goregaon, Mumbai. Bumper seems to be a locally made replacement from fiberglass.

re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Owner left this ML class after severe suspension damage. Intimated the garage to carry out repairs. The mechanic told me the car has been there a while and nobody seems to stake any claims on her.

Maybe other bangaloreans will know more about this. One of the first ML's to be spotted in bangalore apparently.

OMG!! That is indeed a very depressing sight. Any idea on what happened to her, or who the owner is?

Sorry to bring up an old post, but the porsche seems to have a KA reg. That means that it was seized after it was registered. DRI Issues?

re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

It was some weird illegal liquor transport related impounding as mentioned to me by the customs official who met me when I was shown this car after it was available for customers auction a few years ago. It's reserve price kept coming down over the years and was finally sold at last auction held a few months ago.

Heart breaking!

Sad that our system is not keeping a deadline for legal verdict and auction these cars if no response.

Update :: I heard the Corvette Z06 and a few other cars at Cochin Customs might soon come up for public auction.

Anyone with some loose change, save 'em!

RHD or LHD ? Would they auction a car if it is an LHD ?

re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Buying a customs car is like a lottery in terms of the odds of it being intact. I can tell from first hand experience that more often than not these cars are a BLACK hole in terms money and far from costing spare change. By the time the valuators and officer in charge of DISPOSING these get sober from smoking crack/dope/heroin or perhaps they are permanently spine tapped on Acid the car is fairly far gone to put it lightly. To explain they set the value mostly at the time the car was new, current, and or market value at the time of confiscation and completely ignore the average 8 or so years it takes for them to come to auction due to our famous due process. The reserve keeps getting knocked down and the rats and rodents squat and by the time some bloke or lady for that matter thinks they scored a bargain, not realising that the car ON AVERAGE needs another 120% of the winning bid price to make it intact again is no spare change!! Tread carefully you have been warned, of course unless you just want show and don't mind driving around in a half baked car cheerio

Drove it, the less said the better. It's a shame as the specific cost economics around this particular car will eventually lead to the bin.

re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

This Fiat Strada is lying abandoned for the past 10+ years. It belongs to a friend of mine and he has no immediate plans for any restoration.

He has a W123 wanting a full restoration (which I'll beg, borrow or steal from him). It is a LHD orginal German import, white colour. It has been lying unused for more than 10yrs In its glory days, the MB was a majestic sight. The MB was used by a Late Union Minister.
