Finally, the Wraith has made it to India.

Here is an exclusive photograph by Supercars in Delhi before the official launch.

To refresh the memory, Wraith is the two-door coupe version of the Baby Rolls, Ghost. From the BMW sourced 6.6L Twin-Turbo V12, the car develops 624hp making it the most powerful Rolls till-date.

Pretty sure, the suspension has been raised, look at that gap between front tyre and fender,it cant be that much in normal conditions.

Of course it's raised, it normally sits very plush, but I feel unlike the Lambos and 458s lifting just the front, RR lifts all four wheels, something like the Range Rover etc and hence it gives us the impression it's riding very high.

Here is its normal stance,

The car must be in transport mode prior to PDI wherin the vehicle is raised until the deletion of the transport mode to aid in loading/unloading from the containers. Also the suspension remains very stiff.

Car is here for the official launch. It looks absolutely beautiful!!

So is it going up against the Continental GT?
It looks suitably ethereal. The rear arch does look like straight from the CGT. But there is surely a sense of drama in the way this thing looks. And then it has the most powerful heart from the Rolls Royce stable. By the way there is quite a fuzz and confusion with the launch date, apparently one of the date was 7th of August and then 9th of August popped up.Can anyone confirm the date???

Royce Wraith to be launched in India on August 19.

Bespoke English luxury automobile brand Rolls Royce has launched the Wraith, a powerful Gran Turismo model that stands independent of the Silver Ghost and Phantom model lines. The car is priced at 4.6 Crore Rupees, ex-showroom Delhi and is imported through the completely built unit (CBU) route. Owned by the BMW group, Rolls Royce builds all its cars from a single manufacturing facility at Goodwood, England.

The design of the Rolls Royce Wraith follows a fastback, pulled back design with the car sitting lower than the Silver Ghost line by a full 50 mm. With a wider track and shorter wheelbase, the Wraith's frame less door and B-profile omitting chassis has been designed to make the car look sporty even while standing still. The car rides on chunky 20 inch wheels with 21 inchers available as an optional extra.

The most powerful Rolls Royce car to be ever commissioned, the Wraith features a 6.6 liter twin turbocharged petrol engine in a V12 layout. This motor, which comes with direct injection, outputs 624 Bhp of peak power and 800 Nm of peak torque. Given the emphasis on effortless performance, the 800 Nm of torque is generated from 1,500 rpm to make for seamless performance. The engine of the Wraith is mated to an 8 speed automatic gearbox.

The gearbox is an interesting bit of hardware on the Wraith, given the fact that it uses Satellite Aided Technology (SAT) to sense the terrain of the road and shift gears accordingly to keep the gear changing as smooth and seamless as possible. Also, the SAT equipped ZF 8 speed automatic gearbox uses inputs from the driver to discern her or his driving style and modulate gear shifts accordingly.

The car rides on an air suspension set up that is said to have been optimized to reduce body roll. The steering has been worked upon to deliver more feedback to the driver, in keeping with the sporty intentions of the newest Roller. On the inside, the Wraith gets luxuriously appointed interiors that are de rigueur on all Rolls Royce cars. The cabin is optimized to seat 4 adults in a 2+2 layout. A host of safety technologies that include night vision cameras work in tandem to ensure a high degree of safety.

doesn't the back look somewhat like the 5GT in profile?

Well, they might kill me for this, but the Wraith to me is ugly. Simply cannot digest its side profile. The Ghost is a absolute beauty and the Wraith is its opposite.
And for 4.6cr I am better off with a 458.

Rolls Royce says that they're looking forward to launch an India specific Rolls Royce as well, may be next year. I wonder what exactly will be in an India specific edition coming from a manufacturer that is possibly a master of custom cars (as they claim that no two Rolls Royce cars are ever the same).

Indianautosblog have posted about the Indian edition here: http://indianautosblog.com/2013/08/r...-edition-92728

And there's a video as well where Rolls Royce's GM, Emerging markets and Asia says the same.
