Bentley, a bespoke English luxury car maker now owned by the Volkswagen group, has launched the 2014 Flying Spur in India. The high performance luxury car, the most powerful Bentley 4-door ever, has been launched at a price of 3.10 crore rupees, ex-showroom Delhi. The luxury car will be imported into India through the completely built unit (CBU) route. The 2nd generation version (discounting the facelifted model) of the Flying Spur line, the 2014 model is underpinned on the Continental GT platform.
The 2014 Flying Spur made its official debut at this year's Geneva Motor Show and indirectly rivals the 2-door Rolls Royce Wraith, in terms of performance on tap. The Wraith was launched in India during August and Bentley launching the Flying Spur now underscores the stiff competition in the ultra luxury segment. The Flying Spur is powered by the twin turbo, W12 petrol engine that features a V12 cylinder layout.
This engine, which the Flying Spur shares with the Continental GT Speed model, outputs 616 Bhp of peak power and 800 Nm of peak torque, with the peak torque being produced right from 2,000 rpm. The engine is mated to an 8 speed ZF automatic gearbox that transmits torque to all four wheels of the car. The Flying Spur is capable of reaching speeds of 322 Kph, with the 0-100 Kph sprint being achieved in 4.3 seconds.
The car gets air suspension with adaptive damping that adjusts to road surface and driver demands to vary damping accordingly. In terms of design, the Flying Spur is taller and narrower than the car it replaces. To offset this, the car's designers have used larger outer headlamps and a front lower intake with no vertical divisions. The headlamps are projector units while the day time running lights and tail lamps get the LED treatment.
On the inside, the design remains unchanged even as Bentley claims that 600 new parts have been used. Save for certain parts such as the sun visors, grab handles, arm rests and dashboard bits, the car's interiors come with a range of new parts and these include the front and the rear seats. The Flying Spur is available in 4 seat and 5 seat variants. Bentley claims that passenger comfort is improved through better noise insulation, softer suspension and customized tyres.
The infotainment system consists of an 8 inch touchscreen system that controls a 1,100 watt Naim (made-for-Bentley) audio system consisting of 8 speakers, individual 10 inch LCD touch screens for the rear passengers with a touch screen remote, and an optional Multimedia package that adds WiFi connectivity. Satellite navigation, voice assisted infotainment controls and Bluetooth connectivity are standard.
if not wrong our very own bhpian Fireblader had done a fantastic photoshoot for BSM for a white CFS.
though honestly i didn't like this one at all - the back looks disproportionate, the front looks bmwish :(

The W12 variant was also launched at the exact same price in October last year! I assume the W12 prices must have increased.
