Audi India has announced on it's facebook page that they would launch their RS7 in India on January 6. RS7 had it's global unveil at Detroit Motor Show last year. Propelled by a 4.0-liter Twin Turbo V8, which produces 560 hp at 6700 rpm anf 700 nm of torque from 1750 rpm, it is the second Audi RS model to go on sale in India.



In the European Driving Cycle, the RS7 manages 10.2 kmpl thanks to the CoD system (Cylinder On Demand) and it's top-speed is limited to 250 kmph, with an option of increasing it to 305 kmph in the Int'l markets. It would have an 8-speed Automatic Transmisssion with the Quattro system, capable of sending 60% power to rear and 40% power to front wheels.

It is speculated that Audi is the first luxury manufacturer to cross the 10,000 unit barrier, with Mercedes trailing behind at 9,000 units. This model is spearheading the Audi model offensive that is about to take place this year:

• Audi RS7 on Jan 6
• Audi A8 refresh in March 2014
• Audi A3 Sedan in second or third quarter of 2014

Yup, it's coming! And actually I have been in one recently which happened to be the first RS7 in our country, perhaps. Now don't ask how?

It's a mental car totally. Nothing in the Audi stable quite sounds like it, not even the V10 R8!

Let's see how Audi chooses to price it now.

Prices being speculated are in the 1.05-1.25cr range
Since you have experienced it first hand, do you feel its a package worthy of what's being speculated??

I'm confused what is RS7 exactly, Which car does it compete with from the other german range? like C63 does with the M3. Which does the RS7 compete with?

I know so little of Audis range ^ _ ^. Thanks!

The RS7 would technically go against the CLS63 AMG and the M6 GranCoupe. The RS7 is a fastback on steroids, the CLS and M6 are vaguely similar.

It competes with the M6 gran coupe and the cls 63.

I doubt it will be 1.05 as the RS5 itself is around 1cr. The RS7 would be closer to the 1.25cr price mark.

Of course it hasnt. Its not delivered yet. Will be delivered somewhere next month.

There is a red RS7 in Bombay, and I've heard too that its going to Salman Khan and it costs 1.7 OTR Mumbai.

The Salman Khan news is everywhere haha, but from what I have heard he will get the car only after launch,and it is this very car that will be used at the showcase.

About Salman Khan, he might have booked it and it might probably arrive post the car's launch for all we know.
Am already an RS7 fanatic since the moment i saw the first renders, already knew its completely bonkers....

I don't know how it fares or will fare against the competition, but from what it looks and feels from inside, and the outside, it's totally worth it. It feels every bit of a sportscar- noise, CF, wheels and dials; and every bit of a luxury car too- MMI, Upholstery, B&O stereo, et al.

I have been in every kind of Audis lately, and while I thought I'd love the R8 for obvious reasons, it turned out to be completely different. The R8 is definitely a special car, but the RS5/RS7/A7 are something else really. They all look elegant without being shouty about the horsepower they carry and make you feel very very special just from the moment you step in. I believe for someone who does not hit empty corners and chicanes every morning and still has an appetite for raw speed, these Audis really make sense.

I expect all of them to be hitting close to 2 if not 2 OTR.
The sheer options list on these things is staggering and the prices are extravagant only to add to what is already a steep price tag.
Also these sexier & sleeker versions of the RS6, E63 & M5 are more expensive than the sedans for just that....being hotter to the eyes.
