Isnt 35L cheap for this. Considering recent trends, the on-road cost would be roughly 4 times, which is still south of 1.50L or if 5 times, it would be 1.75 Cr.

This is what the regular S500 retails for with standard options.

These are manufacturers cost and not cost to the purchaser. This is what the car costs them, then duties, taxes etc brings the cost in the 1 crore plus range.

If you see most CBUs they are priced 4-4.5 times on road. Mercedes is priced at near 5 times and is among the highest. So Germans continue on their big margins.

Based on the import costs, the Maybach 500 should not be more than the regular S500 by more than 10-12L on road, isnt it. (considering import/manufacturer cost is ~ 2.5L more than regular S500).

Its not them, but the government. If the duties and taxes reduced the buyer will benefit.

I agree but since it carries a Maybach badge it will not be in the same range of the normal S500. As i have always mentioned, Indians are happy to get milked.

A Ford Mustang has been spotted at the ARAI facility in Pune yesterday. Did a quick search and yes, a recently imported Mustang GT Premium Fastback has been listed in Zauba.

35lac is the landed cost so adding approx 200% taxes and all other shit, it comes up to 70lac. Assuming it retails at 70lac ex showroom, worth it?

The M4 costs 30l according to zauba, and we know what its ex showroom is. I wouldn't expect the Mustang to be priced anything but ridiculously. But if they bring it in with the V8, and well loaded it may sell a bit. Though in terms of quality I'm sure it can't compare with the Germans.

I feel the landed cost is on the higher side here because it's been airlifted. The GL 63 and ML 63 is 30 L too on zauba but their ex showroom is 1.8and 1.5. I've tried hard to figure out the mathematics these guys do to price the cars, but I've failed to understand. Our best bet would be to wait and see how they price it. Also I'm very sure the V8 GT won't be more than 75.

Re: Data of Cars imported into India: Available online!

Here's an interesting entry.

"FOC - VEHICLE: DENA-EF7(BRAND:IRAN KHODRO)MODEL YR:2015 CHASSIS#:NAAW01HE7EE002587 ENGINE#:147H0106441"

Its based on a Peugeot 405! This is harking back to the 309 generation. The engines are based on the Peugeot TU series too,but seems to be indigenously developed and manufactured in Iran with modern tech like VVT and MPFI.

There is another one

"FOC - VEHICLE:SAMAND LX-EF7(BRAND:IRAN KHODRO)MODEL YR:2015CHASSIS#:NAACJ1JWXFF502952 ENGINE#:147H0128162"

The Samand is also based on the 405,but i would gather its the more luxurious version of the two. This looks so ridiculously 1990s,that it actually looks good.

I really wonder if this Iranian company really intends to introduce their cars here or whether if they were here just for some market evaluation or car testing, but eitherways, quite interesting.Really like that Samand.

A piece of trivia, the 405 used to come in this '//M,AMG' version called the 405 Mi16.Well not exactly AMG,but more like a Cosworth Ford.It has a cult following today in Europe and US.

I will quote from an article from the net to describe it.

Quote:
"But weeks after it hit the market, Peugeot transformed the 405 into the decade's best affordable sports saloon. The Mi16 (or MeeSez if you're French) was made special by the addition of an all-aluminium naturally aspirated DOHC 16-valve engine, un-romantically called the XU9J4. It pushed out 160hp, and happily revved to its 7,200rpm cut-out. This brilliant new engine cost a reputed £3,000 per unit. But then, it did feature such delights as a magnesium cam cover, lightweight flywheel and big competition-specification cylinder head and valve gear.

And what a car. To differentiate the Mi16 from the hoi-polloi 405s, a standard 80s issue bodykit and rear spoiler on stilts were fitted, complementing the Ferrari-esque five-spoke alloy wheels. Inside, there were fewer changes - jazzier trim, and a leather-bound steering wheel - but that's not where the money went. Back in 1987, Motor magazine beat the official acceleration time by sprinting its first Mi16 from 0-60mph in 7.8 seconds, and onto a 134mph maximum, but these figures fail to convey the sheer joy you'll get from wringing the neck of an Mi16 today."

The powerful SQ7 is here in India for testing.A rumoured 400bhp/800Nm.
