Re: Data of Cars imported into India: Available online!

The Non-Amg version of the CLA has also been imported for homologation on 22nd September 2014. As per the entry the vehicle is CLA 200 CDI. I guess MBIL wants to maintain the gap between the CLA and the C Class.

Here's the entry:

I guess this will have similar power ratings as the GLA 200 CDI.

Here's the CLA 200 CDI specs from Mercedes's Uk website.

Re: Data of Cars imported into India: Available online!

Large lots of the 2015 Mercedes c-class w205 are being imported by Mercedes India the entry dated 22nd october. They are C220 CDI and C200 petrol. I guess we can draw the following conclusions.
1.A november-december launch seems eminent.
2. E-Class Like strategy to be followed- Expensive CBU launch edition followed by the Cheaper CKD model.
3. The regular CLA launch to be after the new c-class launch.A March 2015 launch is also confirmed by autocar.

Re: Data of Cars imported into India: Available online!

Here's something which i pieced together with the help of Zauba, the number 991s imported into India and the count of all different variations.

Note:This is just according to Zauba and the number imported and sold might not match but can be taken as a approximation with 1/2 more or less.Even then its a nice piece of statistic to play with.

Porsche 991(Last import 20Nov ’14)

1.Carrera: 8

2.Carrera S : 31

3.Carrera Cabriolet : 2

4.Carrera S Cabriolet : 5

5.Carrera 4: 4

6.Carrera 4S: 2

7.991 Turbo : 1

8.991 Turbo S: 6

9.Targa 4S : 1

10.991 GT3 : 2

11. 1 Special Edition( CARRERA 50 JAHRE 911 )

Total: 63(First import Sept '12)

Trivia:
1. Porsche India managed to sell about an average of 2 991s a month.

2. Prices stretch from 1.8 crores($280,000) for a 350hp Carrera to almost 4 crores($625,000) for a Turbo S.As a comparison a Carrera GT was priced around $450,000 at launch.

3.A single Turbo imported into the country even though i heard only the Turbo S is available in India.Where is this car?

4.A single CARRERA 50 JAHRE 911 also in the country.A special edition to mark 50 years of 911.

5.Interesting to see 8 bog standard Carrera's to have found takers.A non PDCC,Non PDK.torque vectoring all that other stuff 3.4 Carrera should be a very pure 911 driving experience!

6.Dont know how many of these are manual, but i do know of one black Carrera S in Kolkata and white Carrera S Cabrio in KL are manuals

The solitary Turbo in the country is with Porsche GGN at the moment AFAIK.

The Carrera 50 Jahre! Interesting.
Need to find out its whereabouts.

Interestingly, both the Carrera 4S are in Mumbai, however I recollect there being one more in Delhi as well, not too sure though.

Nice compilation though

Cheers!

You seem to have made a comparison between (with customs duty) Indian prices of the 991 models and International price of the Carrera GT. The international price of the Carrera GT is around $4,50,000 and the 911 Turbo S is under $2,00,000. Infact the C2 range starts at less than a $1,00,000.

The Carrera GT with Indian customs duty would cost in excess of $7,00,000 just for a comparison.

Also, that's an incredibly high number of 991's in India. I really want to know how many have the dealers actually sold and delivered to customers.

Ofcourse i know all that.Infact it would be very wrong to compare the compare the price of a decade old supercar in another country to that of a sportscar car in India. But i just did that for a bit of fun.

Carrera GT prices are almost 400,000 pounds in UK today, and good examples are for 600 big ones in the US.C2 ranges start below 100 grand but very easily they go above it once you select a few options. The moaning and bitching on rennlist never ends over the prices. They have no idea how lucky they are.

Was hoping they would launch this model here. The luxury car buyers always preferred petrol engines but switched to diesel as the fuel price was a big difference. However now the trend is changing back to petrol given the smaller price difference in fuel price with diesel. The S400 is a hybrid and could be almost as economical to run as the S350CDi.
I hope they price it right, currently the S350CDi is overpriced IMO.
