Re: Dodge Challenger in Mumbai

A white Dodge Challenger SRT was spotted around Navi Mumbai today, saw a pic in a friend's facebook wall.

A new addition to the city perhaps. Carnet import?

Re: Dodge Challenger in Mumbai

Last november I landed in Dubai and I was honoured to be received from the airport in the Hellcat. I honestly didnt know much about the 'challenger' let alone the cult status of the hellcat.

Well, the first 30 minutes of my arrival in Dubai was insane, to say the least!

Re: Dodge Challenger in Mumbai

I don't often post car spottings, but this was just something else, looked extremely imposing in person. Wonder if its the same car on the first page of the thread that is now running Jharkhand plates (?).

Re: Dodge Challenger in Mumbai

Thought I saw something special from a distance. Closed in and had an encounter with the beast .

Jaw dropping presence, man. Nothing beats the character of brute american muscle. On the other hand, it was very poorly driven - I've seen some Uber drivers with superior skills .

The Charger looks a lot more old school vis a vis a Mustang. Wasnt this clicked from the inside of the NEXON ?

Re: Dodge Challenger in Mumbai

The current Dodge Challengers has the best and true DNA rendering of the legendary old school muscle car, second comes Mustang, full points to the designers. It hurts me when I see it's cousin, the Dodge Charger in its current shape and design after it started loosing its design DNA , for me the 1969 Charger is my personal favorite. A quick view of the design history can be seen on Wikipedia here for both the Charger and the Challenger, even the Challenger design went bonkers in the second generation (1977-1983), but thankfully they resurrected it in the third generation from 2008 onwards. I'm just crazy about that front headlight and overall front design of the Challenger

Carnet allows vehicles to be driven on the road??
I thought It was show and display only? i.e. to be transported on flatbed to and from an expo etc.

Carnet is like a visa for cars. It allows temporary import and use of vehicle in the country. This is what makes the cross continent roadtrips possible.

Re: Dodge Challenger in Mumbai

Love the Challenge in all of its shapes over the years.

Once on a visit to Dallas, USA, I had rented a car via Hertz. It was the year of the Superbowl in Dallas and the weather had been atrocious. Snow and ice. Which is extremely rare for Dallas.

Hertz had run out of regular cars and provided me with a Dodge Challenger, which I thought was pretty cool. However, what they had not told me that most of the Dallas Freeway had turned into a gigantic skate rink. In some place the ice was several cm’s thick.

Believe me, you do not want a muscle car, rear wheel drive, with lots of torque on icy roads! It is a very lethal combination.

Still, this car is still what muscle cars are all about. Although the V6 lets it down a bit. Build quality has improved quite a bit over the years. But then again, if it is American it will always be different from your typical German build quality. Part of the charm.

Any idea on how long is Carnet valid for? Asking as I am seeing the photos of spotting the same car for more than 2 year now.
