Ok herez my contribution! Will be starting w/ my fav.- the Heralds! from various movies of various decades.....

This 1 of my fav. herald pics.- rare, early 60s herald in a 60s tamil movie 'Kaadhalikka Neramillai'.....incidentally, the same car was used in the film's Hindi remake 'Pyaar Kiye jaa' w/ the no. changed to BML 6959!

Another early herald again w/ a madras regn. in the 60s film 'Ram Aur Shyam'.

'Haseena Maan Jayegi', (the song 'O dil bhar jaaniye', the other car's a Sunbeam Tiger)......curiously, the ignition switch is missing on the car's dash!

Golmaal (1978)

Waqt (1965)

Jawani Diwani

Switched over to another herald, an early model in the later part of the film! but maintaining the same regn. no.

80s Hindi movie (cant recall the name)

Mysteriously switched to this much modified (& ugly) Herald in the same film- but having the same regn.!

Yet another early (62) Herald in a 60s Tamil movie

To be continued.......

Plenty of muscle car's in old Amitabh Bachan movie's,Shaan has a porsche, mustang + etc,

Kaalia has a few+ Amitabh wrecking a rare Hemi,

One picture in which Amitabh race's to save a hostel full of poisoned kid's!...lot of them which makes us hate bollywood to have contributed towards extinction of some very coveted classic's.

On second thoughts The Olds ACE as it was called then it was not a 49 but the one before that. You see the pics, compare and let me know too what it is.

The diff between the 46-47-48. Here is the 46-47 front grille

The 48 front grille

The only differences at the front between 1946,1947 and 1948 were the hood ornamentation and the heavier bumper bar of the '48.
Interior trim was largely restricted to leatherette for 1946 & 47 models but by 1948 Bedford Cloth and Broadcloth were also on offer. Each car came equipped with a tool kit, car jack & owners manual.

This is how it looked in 1946 and didnt change much except grill etc.

Front 1946

Front 47

Rear 1948

The '46,'47,'48 period is one that can be difficult for the untrained to recognise. There are few distinguishing features between '46 and '47 models which look largely identical other than the diecast chrome moulding on the front fenders that display the Oldsmobile name.

DISTINGUISHING MODEL FEATURES

Tail Lights

1946/47 - rectangular shaped & mounted between the rear fender and boot lid.
1948 - narrow rectangular shape & mounted vertically on the rear fenders (mudguards) - a round reflector is incorporated in the tail light frame.
Rear Fender Stone Guards

1946/47 - Black moulded rubber 1948 - Polished stainless steel
Hood / Bonnet Markings

Badge on '46-'47 long triangularish shape.
Badge on 1948 round with individual letters "OLDSMOBILE" across the front of the bonnet (hood).
Side Mouldings

Diecast Chrome Plated Front Fender Mouldings

1946 has OLDSMOBILE name in an oval recess in the fender moulding
1947 has OLDSMOBILE name in the moulding but not in oval recess as per '46
1948 plain chrome moulding without Oldsmobile name

this is the oldsmobile from munnabhai...snapped at a rally in pune and lonavala a few years back...

this 46 oldsmobile 4 door saloon, yet fastback, can be either a "76" 6 cylinder, or a "78" model 8 cylinder car...

Yes looking at the grille and the rear lamps it is a 47. The peculiarities of the model years are that;
1946 Models were available for sale from December 20th 1946 till May 1948 1947 Models were available for sale from May 1948 until June 1948
1948 Models were available for sale from June 1948 till October 1949
As these dates indicate, the 1947 models were obviously produced in very limited numbers and is clearly reflected in the number that still survive today.
OTHER DISTINGUISHING MODEL FEATURES
Tail Lights

1946/47 - rectangular shaped & mounted between the rear fender and boot lid. This also shows that the car is a 46/47
1948 - narrow rectangular shape & mounted vertically on the rear fenders (mudguards) - a round reflector is incorporated in the tail light frame.

This particular one is a six cylinder fast back.

And now continuing w/ my movie pics....

1970s telugu movie.....this was a popular paint job on heralds....incidentally, nearly all Heralds used in Indian movies (& even for wedding processions) wer saloons w/ their roofs taken off, their bolt-on roofs proving to be very convenient for this purpose!

Another early Herald in a 60s telugu movie....

Do kaliyaan (1965)...these cars jus appear in the background in this scene & play no role in the film...

Pati Pathni ur Woh (1978)
