Mercedes-Benz India has launched AMG GT S at a price of Rs. 2.40 Crore ex-showroom Delhi, with the car being revealed by five-time German touring car championship (DTM) winner Bernd Schneider.

Powering the AMG GT S is a 4.0L, V8 bi-turbo engine that produces 503 BHP and 650 Nm of torque. The turbochargers in AMG's new V8 engine are mounted inside the V configuration ('hot inside V') with dry sump lubrication permitting a lower engine placement and subsequently, a lower centre of gravity.

The engine comes mated with a 7-speed, dual clutch automatic gearbox, equipped with the "C" (Comfort), "S" (Sport), "S+" (Sport Plus), "I" (Individual) and "RACE" transmission modes. 0-100 km/h comes up in a claimed 3.8 seconds with the top speed rated at 310 km/h, aided by the light-weight 231 kg chassis. The supercar features an AMG Performance steering wheel, electronic AMG rear axle differential lock, AMG ride control sport suspension (with the "Comfort", "Sport" and "Sport Plus" modes), AMG performance seats and AMG speed sensitive hydraulic steering.

On the safety front, the AMG GT S comes equipped with an AMG high-performance composite braking system, adaptive brake lights, PRE-SAFE, automatic child seat recognition, 3 Stage ESP and 8 airbags. Colour options include magnetic black, iridium silver, brilliant blue, selenite grey and the designo finish hyacinth red, diamond white bright and AMG solar beam.

Woah! This man is DTM royalty! Just look at the numbers and you will know.
"He is 'Mister DTM' and holds a clear lead in most of the DTM statistics: Bernd Schneider - five-time DTM Champion, the driver with the biggest number of wins(43), pole positions(25) and fastest race laps(60) on his tally. His DTM successes virtually are carved in stone and his name is inseparably connected with Mercedes-Benz."
And he has also raced, though not even remotely as successful as in DTM, in Formula 1, 24-hours of LeMans and FIA GT championship.
His more victorious ventures outside DTM include one world title in the International Touring Car Championship(1995) and winner of the 24 Hours of Dubai, the Bathurst 12 Hour, the 24 Hours Nürburgring and the Spa 24 Hours in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in 2013.
Respect.

Surely this is not correct?

Why not? its only the chassis weight. The 2002 a8 body in white weighs just 277 kg.

cheers!
sai

I really like the car but its absurd how costly it is in India. In Germany it retails for 116k euro with 19% VAT which translate to roughly 83lakhs. I thought the duties were around 120% but at this price they are almost 200%. Can somebody give an explanation for this.

Edit: Just saw that the price is for GT S which retails for 112k euros before VAT and 134k after VAT. If you take the without VAT figure its still 200% duties.

The figures go much higher than that. There is an additional 30 percent cess on it. And some other tax on those amounts. The overall cost goes to somewhere around 180 percent IIRC

Ridiculous pricing. You can get like a good condition second hand Ferrari for that price. Not even a Rich guy will be dumb enough to buy it. Pricing should be re considered.

Engine size over 3000 cc the duties work out to over 200%.

Two AMG GT S cars were recently imported. Does anyone know whether they are display cars or customer cars?

Guys, Off topic but I am still astonished by the fact that these AMG GT imports have had a factory invoice of 29/32 Lakhs and the price becomes a staggering 8/9 times higher by the time a customer signs the dotted line at any showroom in India. :Shockked:

It costs 135,000 euro in Germany which is around Rs 1 crore. Is MB putting under-value price for customs like Ali express sellers? lol:
