Ferrari has launched the 812 Superfast in India at a price starting from Rs. 5.20 crore (ex-showroom).

The 812 Superfast is a replacement of the F12 Berlinetta. Designed at the Ferrari Styling Centre in Maranello, Italy, the 812 Superfast is 4,657 mm long, 1,971 mm wide and 1,276 mm tall. The two-seater sports car gets a wide front air dam, sharp lines on the hood and doors and a pair of twin circular tail lamps. The rear gets a quad exhaust setup with a diffuser and has drawn design inspiration from the 365 GTB4 (Daytona) of 1969. The interiors continue to offer the typical Ferrari layout with a horizontally designed dashboard, circular AC vents and a new steering wheel with almost all buttons for the car control.

The 812 Superfast comes with a mid-front mounted, naturally aspirated, 6.5-litre V12 engine. It puts out 789 BHP @ 8,500 rpm, which is around 60 BHP more than the model it replaces with a maximum torque of 718 Nm @ 7,000 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. Ferrari claims that the 812 Superfast can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, while its top speed has been limited to 340 km/h.

The 812 Superfast is also the first Ferrari to get an electric power steering (EPS). Other features and electronic aids include rear wheel steering, traction control (F1-trac), side slip control and a third-generation e-diff. The car made its global debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

In my opinion, the most beautiful Ferrari ever made. And I can only imagine what it’d be like to rip one of these, RWD + Naturally aspirated ~800 BHP engine. Holy god.

I remember Jezza once saying that the only problem with the F12 Berniletta was that it had too much power combined with a superfast steering. Seems like the case with this too. ‘Superfast’ in the literal sense. Name couldn’t have been more apt.

Which is why still, my all time favourite Ferrari (and car) is the 458 Italia.

This looks like a future classic.

If I am not wrong, this has always been an option with other Ferrari models too. I have seen a 488GTB and a GTC4 Lusso in Delhi with the same feature.

Yes, including the F12 Berlinetta. The only difference is that passenger display was available as a Ferrari accessory for those cars whereas on the 812 Superfast passenger display is available as an option when you buy the car.

I cannot digest the name - Superfast. I mean it is a V12 Fezza. Superfast is something we know it will be definitely.

Maybe Ferrari should have played a funny move: Call it Superslow and make it Superfast! :P

The name is a homage to the 1964 Ferrari 500 Superfast, which again was a V12.
