Hey Crazi,

I know there is an original GT40 in delhi.... i have sat in it..a real beauty...attached a pic that some1 uploaded to forrmulaindia. Maybe ur getting confused between this being there and the new one comming? Either way, the more the merrier! ;-]

ps - i drove the manual M3 not the SMG ;-] will post about that later.

also if you have access to the formulaindia (the msn group) ive posted some pics i took of the new GT40 some time ago in the "provdence autoshow" album.

later

Hey

The new Ford is christined to be the Ford GT . It keeps the same classic design but with more power I guess around 500 bhp and in a recent article it has overall beat the Ferrari 360 Modena overall

Cheers

Wow thats pretty good, I didnt know that, I have lived in delhi my whole life and never seen it, thats pretty strange, since i was the "all out on road" kind of a guy...with an eye for cars..this time i gotta check it out, try and find out who has this legend...

hey rehaan since you have sat in it, do you know who owns it? is it bhaiya by any chance??

also the cool bit is that only 85 production models were made in all starting with chassis #P1000 to #P1085, so would love to know the chasis #..I dont know if their is a registry for ford gt cars but I found one for lamborghinis, where you can find practically any lamborghini(diablo and onwards) sold...and where they currently sit..

But thats pretty neat to have a legend in our town..

Thanks...

The Ford GT40 is one car I'm dieing to see. 200mph in 1966! Legendary stuff.
The one in the above picture was featured on a recent TV show. And as is always the case with Indian Auto TV shows, the presenters didn't know what they were talking about.

Hell ya, most of those Pretty Young things you see talking about cars on Indian television would not even know a stick shift from an automatic!! Or alloy wheels from wheel caps.....Its too hilarious (and sometimes frustating) to watch these so called "car shows". Am I glad top gear is still aired to us.

Addy, tell us what they said about the GT40. Am sure they compared it to the Indian Escort

Well, as you'd expect, they were just too dumb to say anything about the car. No mention of engine specs or anything like that. Just a little bit of Ford's history which was obviously mugged from some book and a little drive around the place.
Oh yes, they mentioned a top speed of 200km/h. Supercar at 200km/h? What's the big deal? That's just 25km/h faster than a VTec, right? I wonder if they've ever heard of a measure called "miles per hour".
Pathetic!

You said it Addy

These Indian car shows absolutely suck!!! and suck bad.. How can I forget thos stupid chics in top drive with no no how and just big bosoms . Their brains might be there I guess . And that other dude in Wheels.. The way he exaggerated... " 1.5 litre 74 bhppppp" Yuck he said that like he was describing a 600 bhp V12..

When will these guys ever learn??

Cheers

Hey guys,

When i saw this baby i wasnt really into cars, but believe me...it did NOT look like a replica!
and if it did, who cares...because when the 360 first came to delhi (long before bombay im sorry to say ;-P ) they raced and it left the 360 standing!

Im saying i dont think it was a replica because the cabin was incredibly authentic. Everything from the 4point harnesses to the gearlever being almost just a metal rod. And believe me when that clamshell opened up and i saw that engine and those tires...wholy shit...
replica or not...either way its a dream!

heres a "re-inactment" of what i saw>

Top Drive and Wheels are done by the same team - Miditech - Believe me Miditech are pretty embarassed about Top drive but Star loves it. (my wife used to usedthere so I know the guys) I have to keep telling them in not to announce that in august that the "recent geneva show" was in March. Also that the toyota celica tested was a generation old...the list goes on
