Though prices of Turbo are more in line with existing one (actually lower than previous which started at around 1,98) prices of the base Petrol have gone up to 1,20 Cr. from around 1 Cr. previously. They used to have a Platinum model at 1,10 Cr. or so but now no such variant and you will have to pay extra for everything - from roof to sound system and navigation.

Isn't it true that the Cayenne diesel outsells the petrols by an overwhelming margin? And that the Cayenne outsells all other cars in Porsche's portfolio by an equally overwhelming margin? Shows how practicality is valued even by customers spending 1 - 2.5 crores. The Cayenne Turbo might as well have been a limited edition. It's got 'depreciation tsunami' written all over its face.

No longer. Are there are any Cayenne diesel stocks left? Because the third-gen Cayenne has not been launched with a diesel engine, and won't be also. Macan diesel production ended in Feb '18.

Porsche recently announced that they wouldn't be selling anymore diesel engines in any markets.

That's gonna hit them hard in India, since the Cayenne/Panamera/Macan diesel was easily their highest sellers.

Yes, Cayenne must be over 50 % of their sales in past but maybe in past few months/ Year, 718 range has picked up due to multiple reasons. They will surely have a tough time to get numbers so perhaps to meet their overheads, they have gone for even higher prices

very true. But the customers who are considering these models, will not be EMI guys so it's ok to lose a couple of crores here or there.

I don't think they have any, maybe some smaller centres like Ahmedabad might have few units.

Macan is the highest selling Porsche model worldwide.

https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/comp...ten-14713.html

"The Macan is the best-selling Porsche and maintains the high figures from the prior year with more than 97,000 vehicles delivered (+2 per cent)."

Not surprising. Here in Singapore the Cayenne used to be a very popular model, but with the launch of Macan the former is now a rare sight on road. Though the Cayenne is big, the Macan appeals as a lean and smart crossover.

I believe GTO's comment was more relating to the Indian market where Cayenne was a bread and butter model for Porsche India. Maccan was priced relatively higher and after Platinum edition of Cayenne was introduced, the difference between Cayenne- Platinum with similar loaded Maccan was very less. Though Macan was a newer and more Porsche like, Macan was not a hit here.

I expect this to change going forward as the difference will be now too much. Macan 4 cylinder benefits from the lower Custom duty as well.

I would think Cayenne is more suited for Indian roads. Macan has amazing handling and driving dynamics for a crossover, and many people are taking it to the track to have fun!

Absolutely! Imagine taking a hit of 30-40% on a 2+ crore car after using it for 12-15 months and 5-6k kms!

Now if its true that Porsche is going to make only Petrol models and discontinuing the Diesel model, I think all Cayenne models will be depreciating disasters! Its gonna be the CR-V of the Premium SUVs!

But all said and done, it still remains a dream car!
