@Speedy - Mate the navneet motors can order the parts for you as most of the parts will be on backorder, may be thats why they are unable to help you with the parts as they are not off the shelf.

I think the only parts you would need would be related to the suspension, stearing, brakes for a start and may be other stuff later on. I will pm you the links later.

You'll just have to live with it. It's a car from the '80s - there's bound to be difficulty with parts.
The BMW dealers (in the US) where I get my 2001 E38 serviced, sometimes have to wait a couple of weeks for certain parts.

no it is not due to back order but they flatly have refused to take any sort of responsibility of getting the parts. i dont mind atall and appriciate the fact that they did not keep me lurking in the dark. the tuning and service would be done by them as it i prefer the trained company staff handling that part instead of my people.
yes suspension would be the first thing that would come into the trouble scanner keeping in mind the indian road conditions. the brakes seem to be fine as of now, steering has no trouble supriseingly. i would expect trouble creeping in later on since the car will be a daily runner. thank you for your PM much appricaite it Randhawa.

the wait does not ditter me or cause any concern my other car parts also take time they are older cars than the BMW. the parts are available but getting them at the right time does make a difference. so in order to ensure that you have to know atleast four places where you can get them from so that you save the time. some people stock the parts and can deliver it immidiately. it takes about two weeks to get to you after all formalities are completed.

Re: E12 5 series

This has nothing to do with the 635 csi but i have searched high and low on the forum and found nothing about any bmw first 5s (e12) but nada! and therefore this post in this thread.

Infact are there any in india?

Even service manuals for the e12 5 series are not to be found on the net.

any help on the first fives would be welcome.
