I doubt the Viano becoming a tourist vehicle, replacing the 100D/140D simply because it cost's 5 times more and even if it was bought under EPCG, it would still be 2.5 times more then the 100/140D and the figure remains 5 times if the 100/140D was also bought under EPCG.

Spotted a couple of Vianos from Delhi. All of them were taxi regn. Spotted one from Imperial Hotel & was labled that its carrying for Jordan Deligates when the Jordanian King visited the nation. But I could snap only one, that was parked some where near Janapat

Mercedes-Benz Viano, also sold as the V-Class in some markets

The image is of a Mercedes Viano (also called as the V Class). For those who are in the dark, the Mercedes Viano is a 5 door van sold by Mercedes in international markets. It is available in six or seven seater combinations but can also be extended to eight seats. It is available in petrol and diesel engines with a manual or automatic gearbox.
The interesting part is that Mercedes India has no plans to launch the Viano in India as they believe that it may adversely impact the brand. So then why is this Viano being tested in India and more importantly why are the badges covered?
Could this be the Force MPV which is due next year?

Yes certainly. This is the test vehicle for Force Motors.

I read in some auto magazine that Force Motors have targeted a price of 11-13 lakhs for the Force MPV. In that case, it makes a very good alternative to the already established Innova and the high-priced Aria but the quality of parts and the long-term ownership of Force Motors leave a lot to be desired.

The good part is that Force Motors is taking the market very seriously. Hope they re-launch the Gurkha 4x4 with a powerful engine at a knock down price. Would be interesting to see if it can eat into Mahindra Thar's sales.

Wonder why Force motors wants to bring in outdated Mercs to India. Guess, another vehicle for Taxi fleet owners.

By the way, Daimler is already working on the next gen Viano.
