Thanks Revv - VW also have made the mistake - why pay 2000 dollars more for a Golf when a Skoda Octavia or Seat Lean delivers the goods !!!

I don't like the X Type much, but, I won't ridicule it for sharing the Mondeo's platform. The reasons are simple.
Firstly, the Mondeo is a pretty good car - good looks and fine dynamics.
And secondly, everyone else is sharing platforms. The Porsche Cayenne for instance, is sharing a platform with a VW Touareg. Who's complaining?
What more, three MPVs, the VW Sharan, Ford Galaxy and Seat Alhambra are nothing but the same vehilcle with a few cosmetic differences and different badges. All have got good reviews from "Car" magazine UK.

Are you sure it was the X-Type and not the new XJ? I had seen a silver XJ (X350) recently. I don't remember the number, but, it was similar to the one you've stated.
We have discussed it here - New XJ

Sweet dude.
My Cousin has a X tye in Dubai.
Want to sit in it just because of the name.
The Mondeo Platform is quite good IMHO, it's just that it isn't worthy of a 15L premium.
