Earlier this car was priced at par with the regular S-class and it didn’t sell. Now they have priced it close to the Maybach! Dead on arrival !

A miniscule lot will still buy it for the sake of exlclusivity.

Looks are the biggest trump card in the kitty of Quattroporte. Though this current one is no dot on the evocative shape the 5th Gen M139 Quattroporte was.

Love these Maserati’s! Very different from all the bland German stuff. Great looking cars. Probably even better than my favourite brand Jaguar.

However, there are some problems. Even the new ones are not that well put together. Shoddy, almost cliche type poor Italian workmanship. And of course, how many well equipped garages, with experienced mechanics are you likely to find anywhere near you?

And they are not particular fast. Somehow all Maserati’s stay well behind the performance curve compared their contemporaries.

At some point in time, I most likely will buy myself a nice second hand Maserati. God knows why, because I already know it will be the most disappointing car I will ever own and it will be an absolute money pit.

but those looks..........

Re: Updated Maserati Quattroporte launched at Rs. 1.74 crore

I was quite a big Maserati fan until I peeked in a few here.
Forget the pricing in India, Maserati is a shadow of what it was in its glory days and it is in deep troubles.
For start, the interiors are cheap and chintzy with bits from other FCA cars.
They are IMO not good looking anymore, the Quattroporte has awkward proportions and Ghibli looks nothing special.
The engines, a diesel Maserati, really?
Equipment, laughable when compared to the competition.
Crazy pricing, the Ghibli and the Quattroporte are overpriced not just in India but everywhere, all because of a trident badge.
Massive depreciation, after a decade these are worth peanuts.
Maserati is a Casio with an Omega badge, but wait, Casio's are reliable.
No wonder they don't sell anywhere.

Not to forget the age - this generation is now marching toward the 7th year! So its old, has shoddy reliability, just average cabin quality, a microscopic dealer + service network, overpriced and slower than sedans costing a crore lesser (0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds).

Dead on arrival indeed. Even Maserati knows they don't have much of a product today - the press release mainly focuses on the leather, sound system etc.

"There is no beauty which hath not some strangeness about its proportions". I dont think Maserati's look bad at all. Even standing next to the latest trio from German, the Ghiblli still look like a million bucks. It always get a second glance.
