Was returning from Kings Circle near Matunga when a golden wierd car caught my eyes! After thinking for a while i finally identified.. it was a AMC Pacer. I dont know which year model it was but has to be around 1977! Was in a very very good condition with chrome all around it. Had white walled tyres. Now i couldnt take pics cauz i wasnt in my car and so didint have my camera with me!
I am attaching a sample image of the AMC Pacer. That was one wierd car of its time..!

Makes me want to go watch Wayne's World.

It was one of the biggest automotive duds of all times. Supposed to be a small hatch for running around but guzzled enough fuel and wheezed around at "ambassador" speeds. The passenger door is 5 inches longer than the drivers!

When the fuel crisis hit in 1973, Americans panicked and AMC tapped into their neurosis with the Pacer, a short (but rather wide) 'compact' with a rear hatchback. It was billed as a thrifty, rational economy car but its potential for fuel economy was relative: its four-litre, straight-six engine returned 18 mpg on a good day and struggled to achieve 95 mph flat-out. It was originally to have been powered by GM's rotary engine but this idea was shelved.

There was a wagon version with wood panelling (shown in the pic) and, later, a 5.0-litre V8 model which totally scuppered the Pacer's economy ambitions. In other ways, the Pacer was no more or less undistinguished to drive than any other American car of the time,

more pointless, worse comes close to it !

The window reminds me of the even wired looking Mitsubishi Minica Toppo. Its got similar looking long windows , its a tall car with very small tyres this car was parked near my house a couple of weeks back the front looked like the mini cooper(but only not so good looking).

There's an AMC Gremlin too in Mumbai. It was parked opp my building for quite some time until it disappeared from there. Seen it last at Garage Road, Santacruz.
