On a funny note... what if the driver of the flat bed desides to take a pit stop (at a dhaba ), does the cleaner look after the car ...

But seriously how does it work... i am guessing the car is escorted with security.

I'm surprised they are transporting the car open like this by road (I would want it to be covered shipped in a container)
not even the US would they do that, covered is always extra and dealers ship their stuff open, even the phantom, i have seen pagani and couple of other exotics costing twice as much as the phantom being shipped open, if you are an owner who just bought the car, you can demand closed shipping, but i think this car is a demo car..so the dealership aint all that concerned

Thefts, bad roads, flying rocks... are not big factors on US roads (although I somehow manage to get my windshield chipped ever so often)... but I think all these factors should be of HUGE concern in India... also considering the fact that these machines cost twice as much in India

i sort off agree with you, these are possibilities..(not theft ofcourse but yeah)..

but since you live in the US, dont you think you get more rock chips in US than you do in India? I have not seen my cars in india this carefully but my brand new cars tend to develope chips within the first 500 miles..

road here are bad as well..this is chicago..may be not as bad as india but in my books pretty bad..

also as for road chips on this car, chips usually happen at about a certain height so this car would be safe from that.and mostly road chips happen in the front portion..

but yeah if it were me, i would have also picked up closed shipping for the car..

Even Maruti 800s get shipped in closed containers! this being a phantom deserves atleast that.

Well guys for starters.. there are no conatainers big enough in India to contain the Phantom..
Secondly this is our demo car being taken to Jodhpur, jaipur etc to be shown to Maharaja's..
This is not the first time its being done.. First car was transported all the way to Hyd in the same truck and another to Ahmedabad.. although in a similar one..
Also our company X5 is always with the truck for Escorting the car.. and ofcourse there is insurance..
Besides the truck is owned by WIAA (Western India Automobile Assoc) so they know their job.. we r planning to build a similar truck but on a larger platform.. lets see how it works..

Hope that answers all ur queries..

Regards,
Mav..

Thats the same container that was used to seize the golden SL55 AMG.

Offtopic : Aren't tow trucks (or carriers) supposed to be registered as commercial vehicles. This one is a registered as a private vehicle with white plates.
