Spotted Testing: Audi A3 Hatchback

Hey fellaz, spotted a Black Audi Suv last night at Lower Parel.Im not too sure bout the Audi Suv series but i guess it was a A3.It looked immaculate.Just got a small glance of the car, since it was coming from the opposite direction.
And sorry,no pics again.

Dude.. Audi A3 is not a SUV??? Its an hatchback. Audi has never made anything called as SUV...except for some crossover estates!!

Could be the new A3 Sportback, though i think it's too early to see one around. Did it have 2 doors? And did it sport the new Audi face? Could very well be the old A4 Avant that i've seen plenty of times, parked many a times near Kamathipura.

Nopes. It was not a hatchback, but an SUV for sure.It had 4 doors and had 'some kinda' similarity with the Porsche Cayenne. And it did look like a brand new import,as the paintjob had an amazing gloss to it and it had no tints watsoever.

the only 4x4 that bears close resemblance according to me is the Volkswagen Touareg. Audi did make a concept Suv, by the name of some pikes _, but i dont remember audi making any production SUV.

Hi Salil

The Concept SUV Audi made was called the Audi Pikes Peak Quattro. If & when actually produced (launch schedule was 2005), it was to be named the Audi A7.

Basic stats (concept vehicle), if you want them, are / were :
- 4.2L twin turbocharged V-8
- 500bhp, 465 lbs/ft of torque
- 6 speed auto tranny
- torsen center diff, 50/50 torque split
- estimated cost price : US$ 50,000.00

The production vehicle is expected to have the following engines available :
- 3.2L V-6, 240bhp
- 4.2L V-8, 345bhp
- 5.0L V-10, bhp unknown
- 6.0L W-12, 450bhp (yes, that's W-12)
- 6.0L V-12 diesel, 400bhp, 730 lbs/ft of torque.

As far as I know, there was only one show car made, in a metallic mint / sea foam green-silver colour. The head of product development for the vehicle swore that it would screw the living cr@p outta the Volkswagen Touareg, although both were owned by the same parent company, were based on similar platforms & were intended primarily for the US market. He also made a passing mention about the fact that they were facing presure from Porsche AG bosses who wanted to kill the project to stymie internal competition (FYI, the brands Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen, Skoda are all owned by Volkswagen AG).

Anyways, enuff info for now.

Ciao!

if it looked like a cayenne ,then it must have been an estate version.audi has the A4 Avant,A6 avant and the S6 avant estate versions.

or else it could have been the Audi Allroad quattro
