More pics to come once the car is completely ready. I'm not too good with Porsche models, but i guess this is a 924 (same like the one at Speedrun 2004). Can anyone confirm?

True it is a 944, the basic 2.7 litre version. Though the 924 does look pretty much the same, one way to distinguish it from the 944 is the presence of four horizontal vents between the pop-up headlights. Must be somewhere around the '89 ish.

If I am not wrong...even the hood of the 944 is a little longer and angular than that of the 924!!

Yeah you could say that, the 924 was a little more aggressive than the 944, though their wheelbases were identical, since the 944 was based on the 924 Turbo, even shared the suspension, while the brakes were taken from the 924 Carrera GT. Porsche's lifesaver.
Hey V12 where is this car being restored?

944 is really a wonderful car mostly known for its superb handling.944 won so many awards back in 1985 just coz of its handling. Basically one can say it was a mixture of 924 and 928.

V12 where did you find this looks like it was kept covered for a long time and Porsche logo is also missing.

This car was up for sale a few months back in one of the car magazines with an asking price of about 10 Lacs if im not wrong. Ive seen this car around Bandra a few times. An elderly man drives this car. This was the same car that was there at the speedrun right?

And those vents look aftermarket, take 'em off please, this is not an Esteem. Funny how now everywhere i look there seems to be a Matiz around, this must be an indication of some sort. Is that you God??

Hey V12,

As Stratos and PHead said - its a 944.

The 944 was available with 3 engines if im not mistaken.
The 944, the 944S (DOHC) and the 944 Turbo.

This is supposed to be one awesome handling front engined car!
Ive seen the turbos lapping faster than NSXs.

cheers
R

ps - there is a red 944S in "lamborghini"'s building... ask him to take a pic of it...... it went through quite a bit of engine work as well as some cooling system rectification and a new exhaust from what i have seen.

And also the legendary Porsche emblem and fogs are missing.
This person surely cannot respect his car!

At first I thought it was a flatnose 911, coz I've never seeen those hood scoops on a 944.

Correction Stratos, the FMSCI is not the motorsport governing body for India. Since 1999, the governing body has been the MAI (Motorsports Association of India).
