Re: My pre-worshipped Porsche Boxster S (987.2) - A true sportscar!

Congratulations, man on your amazingly beautiful acquisition! I have a die-cast model of this very variant. It was such a huge shame that Porsche had moved to a dull 2.0l Turbo for the current generation Boxster and Cayman. Thank goodness due to backlash, they brought a 4.0 naturally aspirated engine! Wishing you loads of joyful miles with this beauty! Hopefully, I will be able to buy this future classic someday.

Thanks a lot! I haven't actually contacted Club Octane yet, will do that now. I did check online directory's but not sure if I can trust a random garage (have heard lots of stories haha)

Thanks for reading it and yeah, it's annoying - roads are empty for the first time but I can't take it out. But it's all for the best so controlling myself.

Exactly! Can't even compare to a D-segment sedan. Obviously it's a completely different thing but still. Will definitely share the service experience and thanks a lot.

Some internet research told me that the that this 987.2 came with 265 section tyres stock.

Also, I don't think your current rear rim can accomodate 265 section tyres.

Could you confirm this once?
Oh my god, thank you so much for pointing this out. I thought it looked different but didn't think the size could be wrong and didn't give it much thought
I just checked - the car has 265/35 at the front and 235/40 at the rear. It should be the other way around. As soon as the curfew is lifted, getting this fixed is the first thing on my agenda. Thanks again for noticing.

I'm curious about this too, it looks like the tyres are tucking in a wee bit more, yeah?
Thank you and yes, they stick to their designs which make their cars timeless. My response about the tyres is just above. I feel so stupid haha!

Hey Congrats on such a beautiful acquisition. Wish you many happy miles ahead. Please keep updating this thread on your ownership.

The thin rear tyre looks dangerous since this car easily looses traction, upgrading to thicker tyres is a must.

Check the year of production of tyres and whenever possible upgrade to Michelin PS4S. Now this tyre change could have happened at the car dealer end but if it was at the owners place, there could be more to it. As a first step, get all fluids changed, even if these were changed before by previous owner. Also, get brake pads/ discs inspected.

Best will be to take to Porsche dealership for a thorough check. You can prioritize works based on finance if that’s an issue but you should be aware.

Re: My pre-worshipped Porsche Boxster S (987.2) - A true sportscar!

Congratulations on the Boxster. Looks to be a well kept example.

My advice to you would be to drive the car as often as possible. The more you drive her the less troubles she will give you. More than just on weekends I would say. For our India cities, this is all the power you need. The fun of a sports car with practicality thrown in.

Since you are in Bangalore and your car is a 2010 model, you need not go to Porsche for everything. Racetech Automotive is based in your city and they are are super car, sports car specialists. You can easily get your car serviced from them for much lesser than the service centre. Plus your mod needs like the exhaust etc can be sourced from them too.

Wish you many safe drives and fun

Re: My pre-worshipped Porsche Boxster S (987.2) - A true sportscar!

Congratulations on purchasing this wonderful car! The Boxsters are really nice sports cars for all the reasons you have mentioned. Love the colour. And yes, parts are frightfully expensive. On the upside, they are well build and if you keep yours well maintained it should not get too bad, money wise.

Even so, as a sobering thought a new original Porsche exhaust here in Europe would cost more than the second hand 2016 Toyata Yaris my daughter and son in law bought last week!

Good luck and enjoy it to the max!

You're young, you've worked for 4 years and got yourself a Porsche, in India!! Congratulations, Naman, you've dreamed, saved and got yourself a Porsche now create a special fund for it's upkeep and modifications. I think you should take it to a FNG that deals with imports rather than Porsche dealer: they may "milk you dry" being a 10 year old car. Drive her around and drive safe.

Re: My pre-worshipped Porsche Boxster S (987.2) - A true sportscar!

Congratulations on your Boxster!

I had seen a red Cayman with a similar engine that was up for sale. It was a 2013 model with the 6 cylinder NA engine but was an automatic.

With the current staggered set up in reverse direction the car could fishtail out of control easily. Do read up on the car and it would also help to be observant on every little detail as that would save you big bills later.

A pic of the similar colour Boxster that was with me for sometime with the turbo petrol engine:

Re: My pre-worshipped Porsche Boxster S (987.2) - A true sportscar!

Your post has completely disrupted my thoughts since I saw it today morning.

She looks like she rolled off the assembly line just yesterday. Even the interior, which usually makes older cars look dated, could pass off as a 2020 design. I'd appreciate it if you could add more info on how the infotainment system woks.

The best part is the price. I have no idea on what these go for in the market and would have believed you if you'd said 60 or 70 lakhs. At this price, I have found my newest attainable dream car. One day!

Congrats on your Porsche! I have seen some beautiful machines on this forum, but this is the first time I've found myself wishing it was me starting this thread. Godspeed!

Congratulations Naman. What a terrific purchase. I really appreciate and respect the way you have got it on your own at such a young age. You are really a inspiration to all. A true car lover !

I'm in love with this brand ever since I played PC Game "Need for Speed - Porsche Unleashed" for first time in 2000.

A Porche with NA engine and a manual gear box ! Life couldn't ask for more than that.

Insane acquisition. I rarely comment but I just had to. Wonder what the prices of the z4 m40i would be 10 years from now, that's a car I would love to buy someday.

Re: My pre-worshipped Porsche Boxster S (987.2) - A true sportscar!

Congratulations Naman. The car looks beautiful, and its definitely an attainable dream car.

I have hopes of acquiring a pre worshipped Cayman at some point, but I’m afraid by the time I save up enough, such cars might be an extinct breed. The thought of our government’s finicky policies also scare me. I do however, intend to keep my EcoSport as long as possible, no plans for next car.

Your car looks like it rolled off the assembly yesterday. Props to the previous owner for maintaining it so well. I’m sure you will have a lot of fun with that straight 6.
