Out of these sub-1.5 crore exotics which one would you buy?

As auto enthusiasts, its always the cars that come first for us. Hypothetical question - would you buy a Rs. 1.5 Cr. home or drive one from the below list.

1. 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo - 4,000 km, asking Rs. 1.3 Cr Link to ad.

Out of these, the F-Type because it seems like it’ll be the most reliable, will be able to withstand Indian roads a little better, that sweet 5.0L supercharged V8 sound incredible and it looks absolutely wondrous.

As much as I love the Gallardo and the thought of a Ferrari sends tingles down my spine, they’re too outdated for me and the ride quality will be dismal.

I would go for number 1, the 2012 Gallardo as it looks like a fair deal to me. I would be happy to spend 8 more Lacs on a car with a much lower odometer reading. And for the colour , I would just get it vinyl wrapped in orange.

I’ll stay away from the Gallardo, that transmission is trouble. Also, both of them seem a bit overpriced. Between the Ferrari and the Jaguar, the Jag seems the better option. It is basically new and will be much easier to live with. The Ferrari isn’t exactly new and has done a fair bit of mileage for a supercar.

Neither one of the above.
Because neither of them is manual.

And honestly if I were to spend 1.5 crores on a car, it would be an M car. I'm now at an age where a BMW M5 in silver makes just so much sense. 616 BHP, and people wont judge you for having a midlife crisis.

Assuming the money was spare, I would get a supercar.

None of these really appeal to me though. Not a big fan of Italian supercars. They have tended to be too temperamental though Lambo's have improved after being purchased by VAG.

If there was a Porsche (Boxster or 911) or one of the Japanese ones like a Skyline/NSX/LFA etc, then I would be interested. The other option is a super saloon like the BMW M class or even cheaper the Evo/Impreza.

I'm sorry to say, but none of the above make the cut. Infact all of them have some insane asking prices in these ads.

1) The Black Gallardo is the Ex John Abraham one. Since it is a 2012 one, a fair price for it should be 90L-1cr max as per market standards.

2) The 2011 Yellow Gallardo is the Ex Lamborghini Mumbai Demo Car. Infact the same car was offered to me for 80L or so. So yeah, a 40L markup.
But for 75-80L, it's solid VFM despite the high odo.

3) The 2018 Jaguar F Type is only a 2.0L one. So a realistic value for it should be 70-80L max. Heck why would anyone even want a puny 4 cylinder with that kind of a budget.

4) The 2005 Ferrari F430 is the Ex Sanjay Dutt one. A friend in Pune had it for a while too after which it changed multiple hands. A fair price for a 15 year old F430 is 80-90L.

If I had 1.5 crores to spend on a supercar, I would put my money down on either of the following in order:

a) Lamborghini Huracan: Several nice preowned 2014-15 Huracans out in the sale in the market for about 1.6-1.7. So with a good negotiation, you should be be able to close around 1.5. Best bang for the buck with those kickass looks, the NA V10 and newer Lambos are fairly reliable too.

b) Porsche 911 Turbo S 991: Another really awesome supercar one could buy. Really fast, looks timeless, German build quality and Porsches are relatively cheaper than the Italian competition to maintain as well. Several clean examples from 2012-2018 are selling in the bracket of 1-1.5.

c) Mercedes AMG GT-S: A brilliant car Mercedes offered in the Indian Market. Fun to drive, fast biturbo V8, sexy interiors, backed up by Merc's awesome after sales service. Co-incidently these cars are depreciating a lot and you could find a good one to buy from 2015-16 in 1.2-1.4cr

It is most important to find a trusty and reputed car broker or car dealer here. He who helps you find clean cars in different cities across the country and helps you close them at best deals in the market with full transparent dealing and paperwork. Very important to check the history of the car, abused or not, regularly serviced or not, modified extensively or not, the number of owners, etc. Also you'll rarely find ads of such cars on Olx. These cars generally sell via WhatsApp only, or maybe even Instagram, Facebook pages nowadays where people are publishing their inventory or sharing cars that they might have to offer from their respective clientele.
All the Best.

But in times like today, i will put the 1.5cr in FD and heave a sigh of relief, that i had that kind of cash in my bank account.

But since all this is hypothetical, i would end up buying a Ninja H2R instead.

Re: Out of these sub-1.5 crore exotics which one would you buy?

Firstly one should keep in mind the fact that just like Delhi NCR, other state governments too might put a ban on 15 year old cars. So my advise is to assume the remaining life to be calculated with respect to that.

1.) If the KMs are genuine then, the Black Lamborghini makes the most sense as it is the one least used. The tyres would have gone hard and few rusts could be some small issues depending upon the ambient weather conditions of the city the car has been in.
Still, the asking price is too much for a car that’s almost a decade old.

2.) The yellow Lamborghini seems to have done a lot as per super car standards. It is best to be considered at 70 lacs because the expenses are going to be burn a hole in your pocket.

3.) NEVER go for a used Jaguar/Land Rover car, period! Everybody has heard of horror stories from these British cars. Though if one wants to buy it for 2/3 years then it makes good sense as the warranty period would still be going on and might be extendable too. Other than that, I would add that this particular model looks too subtle for Rs 1.14 cr. I wouldn’t want a Plain Jane coupe for that kinda money.

4.) The 2005 Ferrari looks just average. I mean it’s neither contemporary enough nor classic enough by 2020 standards. If you’re keen on keeping it in your garage for a long time, then you might consider it as say 15 years down the line, it WILL become a classic like how an F40 is today!

My Verdict on practicality : 3>1>4>2

My Verdict on for splurging : 1>4>3>2

Also, I’d rather buy a brand new Ford Mustang or a brand new Porsche 718 for a little less or a brand new 911 for a little more!

Re: Out of these sub-1.5 crore exotics which one would you buy?

Was offered this one in March

https://www.bigboytoyz.com/audi/delh...us'-detail

at around same prices what OP has mentioned - with only 1500 Km made sense except for the Audi brand which I am not comfortable at all. Call it whatever, Skoda hangover or just the attitude of the dealerships/ company.

My pick will be new M5-C which one can configure to his taste and LCI orders will be happening around August.

I think this thread is about choosing a house or a sports car if given an option, for me it will depend upon the individual priorities.

Regarding owning and choosing a supercar we already have a thread here on t-BHP https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/super...-you-pick.html (If you could daily-drive a Supercar in India, which one would you pick?)

Re: Out of these sub-1.5 crore exotics which one would you buy?

If I did have a crore and a half to spend on a used car, I'd probably get the following:
1. 2012-13 R8 V10 (for 70ish) - same engine and transmission as the Gallardo, but much cheaper and
2. 2013-14 E63 AMG (for around Rs 50L) - practical yet mental and
3.2015 Mini Cooper S 2.0L (Rs 20L) - as a daily runabout

So a V10, a V8 and a 4-cylinder, plus some change to spare. I'm considering the price on the higher side, as these cars are going for even cheaper than what I've mentioned.

Japanese GT / sportscar + 4 door rally bred saloon is a great combination. Will take the pants off all of the above for less than the asking price + ease of maintenance.

This is what I would pick. Also, the 6.3 SLS AMG, an absolute classic which my dealer said is going for around 2 cr. On a tangent, I know whom I'm going to ask for advice when I want one of these!

Haha yeah, this one went for a steal 1.20 apparently, however was purchased new at solid 2.20 as well in 2018, 2016 manufacturing though.
Car was in mint condition, belonged to an acquaintance here in Kolkata.

The SLS AMG is another really awesome collector's car. Only 21 of them in the country including the 4 Roadsters. Bucket list someday. Surprisingly they still change hands at 1.70-1.80 these days despite being 8-9 years old, and some even having multiple owners. Infact they costed 2.25 or so back in 2011.
Talk about depreciation.

Sure, please do let me know. Would be really happy to help.
