I am actually very fond of this look of the car but I agree with the appeal of a wing on a 911. I can't handle any more attention than this - I maxed out already. When I sent this pic to my son, he replied with this :-) He calls me Mr 720p (old school vs the 4K displays)

Good observation! I am impressed :-) I put two different pairs of wheels on the left and right sides of the car and wanted to take the photos for side-by-side comparison. One of the photos is flipped.

Those 18" maybe good for Indian roads for thicker side walls.

What would look even better, are those 19" Triple 5 Spoke painted in silver.

Have those 19" repainted in original silver shade and your 911 would stand out.

How does one even ride that car in Bangalore! Does the owner carry it around in flat bed trucks ? Lovely car.

I guess it's a track car and needs to be on a flatbed for all other roads. Flatbed per KM cost will be far cheaper :-)

This look of a modern 911 without the wing, harks back to the original 912 design which is the most timeless thing about it. The wing takes away from it, love the timeless look of your car!

Re: Vroom for real - My used Porsche 911 (997.2)

Switch to 18" wheels is turning out to be a great decision. I am being more carefree now and able to keep up with other cars on Bangalore roads ridden with potholes and bumps. With 19", I was driving more cautiously and still ended up with a damaged tire. The ride and rattle situation has also improved significantly. Looks department has taken a total beating but since I have decided to aim for old classic charm, it is not such a disaster.

It may sound strange but given the recent crazy increase of petrol prices, XP100 staying fixed at Rs 160 per litre seems like a favour from the Govt. I have no idea why XP100 price doesn't change like that of regular petrol, it has been Rs 160 since launch.

I am finding it easier and more effective to drop a couple of gears to alert other drivers to give way compared to the tedious job of pressing the horn. Vroom OK please. I was waiting at a traffic signal and the reversing lights on the car in front me came on. I paid dearly in the past due to absent minded drivers letting the cars roll back and reverse, etc. My natural reaction was to panic, but the car didn't move. I figured that the driver turned on the reverse camera to get a CCTV view of my car. Phew!

We visited a relatives place few days ago and their pet dog bit my son. It was a very mild bite without any cut/bleeding but we were advised to get the rabies shots. Four of them! Porsche ƎƆИA⅃UꓭMA to the rescue!

Re: Vroom for real - My used Porsche 911 (997.2)

Received this mail informing that VST group is the new Porsche dealer in Bangalore. Located in the neighbourhood of Garuda mall, close to VST Ducati. I was hoping they would pick a place on new airport road. Don't really enjoy going to central Bangalore.

Re: Vroom for real - My used Porsche 911 (997.2)

I had a terribly foolish idea to go for a nice drive in the rain which ended up as two hours of painful traffic congestion in rains and many flooded sections.

Thankfully I had enough fuel in the car, I was worried I would be stuck forever. One always has to keep an eye on the fuel level :-)

Some error message popped up and I was afraid it's some engine malfunction due to driving through the flooded roads. Turned out to be a brake pad service alert.

Vroom for real - My used Porsche 911 (997.2)-911brakewarning.png

While I was stuck in a traffic jam, the guy in an Auto behind me was nicely warming his hands next to the rear fender of the car as if he is next to a fireplace :-) The engine area becomes very hot (in fact, the cooling fans run for 20-30 minutes while parked after turning off the car - can startle people passing by)

Re: Vroom for real - My used Porsche 911 (997.2)

Looks like the service wear error message was a false alarm - must have happened due to the car being driven through flooded roads. Haven't seen the warning again as brake wear warning is supposed to stay permanently till brakes and sensors are changed. I do see decent amount of pad width left so I guess it's all good for now.

Downgrading to 18" wheels has been a fantastic decision. I miss the looks of 19" wheels for sure but not having to deal with the anxiety of driving with low profile tires is worth the sacrifice.

I received a bright blue silk shirt and Dhoti as gift during a recent trip to TN to attend a function. Couldn't resist this :-) Hope some of you got the parody context!

Looks like the Porsche showroom is opening near Windsor Manor, not in town. Your prayers have been answered!

Good one!

Burst out laughing imagining Tom do anything more than 5 km/hr in a dhoti, on either the Kawasaki GPz900R or the Ninja H2

A bit of both I guess. The poor resemblance, random location, wrong angle of the shot and the framing would tell you that my lead actress and camera crew (our teenage son) are not exactly a cooperating bunch and there was no scope for any retake let alone any planning.

I'm usually not the type to fall for marketing but Porsche marketing has been an exception! When they ran the campaign "Porsche and Top Gun. Together Again", I took my family to watch the movie in a theatre and even bought the ridiculously expensive popcorn without putting up a fight. Unfortunately, there isn't much of a Porsche in the movie except for a couple of frames. Liked the movie though, so it wasn't such a waste of time.
