Congratulations Gogi what you have is a true collectible!!! Starter of the Hot-Hatch phenomenon worldwide & a benchmark handler in its days & for many more years afterwards!!!

She looks to be in great shape, make sure the owner's "Mods" are un-done properly!! Looking forward to driving her around when she's in tip-top shapeb soon!

eep...! congratulations, celebrations, jubilations...! great buy, you can never pay too much for an early GTi...the mk 1s are still made in africa you know? She looks pretty neat, and a small amount of surfing online will confirm your engine specs....or write in to VW, send them 25$ and get yourself a Birthcertificate for the car.

heres the 25th million VW from wolfsburg, and the 10 millionth golf...both I shot at VWs museum in Wolfsburg.

My suggestions would be the following :

- Get a good music system. Probably a high end one which would not look out of place here. Something like the Blaupunkt ones without feather-touch buttons, and a black faced system (not a silver finish).

- Dish alloys.

- Chrome GTI badges on the front grille.

- A good set of number plates. Probably an embossed one or if you could source those VW company plates from the US.

- Tinted windows.

- Extra light next to the each headlight.
