Reply from Porsche Bangalore contact (you must have heard the same thing probably).

I think you should be prepared for delays due to lockdown/covid supply chain logistics/dealership change, etc. even if the billing and finances are smoothly transferred to the new dealer.

Here is an email I received from Porsche India, you might want to check the contacts mentioned there to ensure safety of your payments:

Thanks for the update androdev, I have contacted Porsche Kochi Service head Bibith from the email you shared. He asked me to drop an email with all the details, have sent the email. Waiting for the reply.

EDIT: I got a prompt reply from Porsche India head Mr. Manolito Vujicic on LinkedIn and he assured me that Porsche India will take care of the issue and they will contact me.

Have you somehow managed to squeeze in a photoshoot of this car with some of the lovely photographers in Bengaluru & surrounding areas? We need more Porsche porn please! Also an update on how the car is doing in your long & descriptive words would be much appreciated too!!

Hello @DreamcarFerrari, any update on this? EVM Porsche (Kochi) is now commencing servicing in Bangalore. Most of the earlier servicing staff have been retained is what I heard. I believe they are using the premises of Raja Skoda Whitefield.

Re: My 997.2 Porsche Carrera 2 Review | Dream of owning a sports car comes true

Sorry for the delay in updating the thread.

Porsche India head Mr. Manolito Vujicic replied promptly and his team contacted me the next day. Porsche India was in loop with EVM Porsche Kochi.
Mr. Bibith from EVM Porsche Kochi and Mr. Avinash from Friendly Automotives Porsche Bangalore were in contact with each other.

My 911 was shifted from Bangalore to Kochi in a covered flatbed arranged by Mr. Bibith. Once it reached Porsche Kochi they started working on the car and ordered the remaining parts from Germany which took some time. Most of the work is completed except a few issues.

Mr. Kuriyan who was the service advisor from Porsche Bangalore joined Porsche Kochi and he is now updating me on a regular basis.

Present major roadblock is the PCM which has to be replaced and Porsche India are not able to import it.

I’m not able to decide wether to wait for the PCCM with CarPlay for 997 which is expected to come out after a year or to go ahead and order a new PCM now from this unknown Chinese marketplace.

Good to know it's all going well. All I can say is that the car found the right owner! I would say wait for the OEM part (or the one with carplay later). I think this car is special - better to keep it all OEM. I hardly use the PCM and won't miss it if it stops working.

Re: My 997.2 Porsche Carrera 2 Review | Dream of owning a sports car comes true

Update:

Got the car back yesterday from Bangalore. All the issues were taken care of by Porsche Kochi.

After returning back from Bangalore I noticed a knocking sound from the engine compartment, no check engine light. No issues during acceleration. Don’t know what to do as it’s almost impossible to take the car back again. Will be uploading a video of the problem by evening. Hopefully someone can diagnose the issue which will make my life easy.

Planning to drop the car at Porsche service Chennai on 18th.

Any insights from the members will be helpful.

Can you give more insight into the noise? Is it a kind of tapping or a heavy knocking? And does it increase/decrease with RPMs? Since the car was just serviced it's unlikely to be anything major and could be something as simple as a loose working component or a failed bearing.

Water pump bearings are known to fail on this generation of Porsche's so it could most likely be something like that. I had an issue with a slight tapping noise on my Cayman, turned out to be some debris which was fixed by a simple oil drain and refill.

It’s a tapping noise, it just comes on and off. No increase with high RPM.

Sounds like a faulty bearing to me. If it goes away after the engine is warmed up it could be a sticky tappet too due to debris. Your best bet is to get it checked nonetheless. You could possibly take it to an FNG and see if they have a quick fix as chances are Porsche will tell you its a major issue when it may not necessarily be, and charge you a kidney and a lung.

Just got my FNG to check on it and he says it’s due to a faulty bearing in the alternator and he can refurbish the alternator, whereas the new one with labor might cost around 1.7 lakhs at Porsche.
Thinking of getting the alternator refurbished and if it works out will order a new one from Sunsetporscheparts for 30% off MSRP.

Re: My 997.2 Porsche Carrera 2 Review | Dream of owning a sports car comes true

UPDATE:

Finally had a little time today, had my FNG guy work on it.
He removed the alternator and sent it to his electrician who replaced a bearing.

Reinstalled it and the sound disappeared.

Total bill was 2500.

Decided to get all the future work done at this FNG by ordering parts from Sunsetporscheparts.

Re: My 997.2 Porsche Carrera 2 Review | Dream of owning a sports car comes true

UPDATE:

From the day I bought it the issue of no spare tyre with a very low profile tyres was haunting me. While I was on a late night drive along with my wife and daughter in November the most dreaded thing happened 30KMS away from my house left rear was flat. Got the wheel out and found out that the inner portion of the sidewall cracked along the circumference. Couldn’t get it repaired, had to drive back to my place at 10-15 KMPH. Got in touch with androdev and contacted Madhus. Got all 4 new Michelin Pilot Sport tyres and got them installed.

Finally all the mechanical and electrical issues were sorted.

Was planning on keeping the car for long but due to some unforeseen circumstances, I have to let it go with a heavy heart.

Will be posting in our classifieds section in few days.
