Lamborghini delivers 100th unit of Urus SUV in India

Lamborghini India on Tuesday announced it had delivered the 100th unit of Lamborghini Urus, it was launched for the first time here back in January of 2018. Priced at Rs 3.10 crore (ex showroom)

The deliveries of the first batch of Lamborghini Urus had started in September of 2018 and the super luxury car maker had reported a positive response for the Urus. Within a year of deliveries commencing, 50 units had been dispatched.

Before the pandemic, the company was delivering one Urus every week, which is huge for a car in this uber-luxury segment

Quote:
The Urus has created a unique position for itself in the super luxury car segment in India, not just by creating a completely new category but, more importantly, growing the entire segment," said Sharad Agarwal, Head at Lamborghini India. "In India, Urus has proven to be a game changer for Lamborghini and currently contributes to over 50 percent of the brand volumes in India."

Damn, this is impressive! Especially at such a high pricing in the middle of a pandemic!

Can't wait for these beauties to hit the pre worshipped market I believe 2-3 have been sold used but have retained a high price as the car has a lot of waiting and some buyers don't mind buying pre worshipped at a smaller hair cut than waiting months/year to get theirs on order.

Quite an impressive number. This is also strengthens the case for why the market is tilted towards SUVs. Coincidentally today I had voted this amongst my current favorite 5 SUVs here
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/inter...v-suvs-13.html (Your 5 fav SUVs)

I guess a facelift too is around the corner.

Re: Lamborghini delivers 100th unit of Urus SUV in India

An SUV (Cayenne) saved Porsche, the Urus has increased Lamborghini India's sales multi-fold and - make no mistake - we will definitely see a proper Ferrari SUV in the future. You have to give the market what it wants. Supercars are impractical (Why Supercar sales are so woefully low in India (relative to the overall market size)) & SUVs can be fun to drive too.

Well done Lamborghini! Going by the pricing, am sure you guys are rolling in the profits. Not bad for a car that shares so much with Audi .

Wow, this is a stunning achievement. SUVs are the rage, but I think sharing platforms & parts with VAG made the Urus possible.

I doubt we'll see SUVs from Ferrari. It'll seriously dilute brand value. I doubt the average Ferrari owner has time for a 400-500km road trip with Family. They'd be spending their time off on a Yacht or their private island/or seaside mansion.

It's definitely happening. There are several leaks of the car + I believe Ferrari had confirmed that an SUV is coming, too. Here's an article that shows some spy shots: https://www.carwow.co.uk/news/5089/f...s-release-date

It may dilute the brand value among us enthusiasts, but IMO brands are just trying to keep up with the times. Back then, a sports car company could afford to make just sports cars. I doubt the old approach makes economic sense at the scale of these auto giants.

Taking a bit of a contrarian approach, I feel this may amplify the brand value among the general audience. They are a great entry into the world of exotics for those who can't otherwise justify a low-slung two-seater. I believe this is why we're seeing the Urus doing so well.

These SUVs are quite expensive + they have sporty driving dynamics and the sounds one typically associates with supercars. So it would just reinforce the premium/luxury/sporty appeal for those not part of the 1% for whom Ferrari = raw, visceral, two-door fun. People can buy something with race tech & pedigree without any compromises. Me likey!

We will 100% see an SUV or two from Ferrari.

- The company is listed and answerable to public shareholders.

- No longer is the company playing the "scarcity" game, or building "1 car less than there is demand for" as Luca Montezemolo used to say.

- We've already seen a 4-door Ferrari.

- We've also seen front-engine'd Ferraris.

- Over & above, we've seen AWD Ferraris.

- Heck, we've got Ferrari credit cards, chess sets & photo frames!

I've said this before and will say it again. Purist attitudes don't sell cars. You have to give the market what it wants, and for every 1 person willing to spend 4 crores on a 2-door supercar, there are 20 people willing to spend 4 crores on a Super-SUV they can use with the family. The Urus has not made the Aventador any less sexy, while the 911 Turbo remains as iconic as ever (despite the Cayenne & cheaper models like the Boxster).

This is the big factor. US market exposure means that shareholders can ask all sorts of uncomfortable questions. I expect the Purosangue will be along the lines of a V70 Cross Country or E Class All Terrain - a shape that isn't full blown SUV and pays tribute to shooting brakes.

Nothing outside of a concept car or a Brunei beast of myth.

On the contrary if they remain adamant, in the future there won’t be the brand Ferrari itsef, forget dilution!

Re: Lamborghini delivers 100th unit of Urus SUV in India

The shift towards SUVs globally are also because perception towards SUVs is no more utilitarian and brawny.

Accepting practical luxury is the norm today.

Rolls Royce, Bentley have clearly shown luxury is well experienced in SUVs.

Lamborghini & Astons have proved sportiness too.

As long as consumer shows maturity to newer segments of products we are bound to see these welcome changes.

Its eventually consumer behaviour !

Re: Lamborghini delivers 100th unit of Urus SUV in India

Crazy news especially given the fact that we are still recovering from the pandemic at least from an economic point of view.

I'm fortunate enough to say that my neighbour has a red Urus and boy that car is a stunner in every sense! I feel given the situation of our Indian roads if one were to buy a supercar something like an Urus is the bestbet!
