Its becoming a trend here as well. A friend went to buy the new GL . The dealer was least bothered. My friend peaked his interest when he offered to pay 50 % in advance in return for a delivery within a week. Even after waiting for a month , there was no sign of the car. He went to the other dealer and without any nags , the car was delivered at his doorstep in four days.

Yup.
They tried to sell him their stock car, the Grey one. He wanted a White only and they were not interested in ordering a new car for him from the plant. So he went via the Delhi route.

This problem is true with the dolts at the BMW showroom too. I was trying to replace my 330i with a 328i (as the super stiff sport suspension is just too much to bear with in the 'beautiful' roads of WB esp NB). The idiots almost talked me out of having that idea in the first place by stating the super super delay in getting one amongst other stupid reasons.
Not to mention the amount of cross questioning we had to deal with in buying a 330i back in '10 in the first place.

Why don't folks complain about their woes to Merc and/or BMW? I have hammered the shop many times in the past, and if you can complain to the right departments of the company the right way, you are sure to get a response. It's just that the sales guys at Cal are the typical laidback dolts of Cal we are accustomed to, that deter from selling to/entertaining enthusiasts.
