Supercars & Imports : Kolkata

Since the Kolkata T-BHP gang has started meeting up, we've often discussed sightings of some exotics in the city. I felt that we should have a thread to record these, as and when we chance upon them - like I did today.

Am starting this thread with something reaaaaaalllly beautiful I came across today on Red Road. Didn't get good pics, though.

Now the Q is - I'm not sure if it's the Testarossa or the 512 TR, since the badge was not there. I was looking up the net. The number plate area matches with the Testarossa. The 512 TR had a smaller squarish space. The car had Harayana plates.

The Corrolla was going with it. It apparently had a free flow and was probably making more noise than the Ferrari

@shuvd, @planet do you have the snaps of the other (covered) Ferrari you spotted ?

Well both cars went into a beeeeg house with hiiiiiigh walls in Alipore. Will have to check with @shuvd. He might know whose house it is. Also spotted a red RS inside.
They must love red cars.

shuvc

Its not a Testarossa or a 512 TR its a 348 . Looks clean from the pictures and yes the roads look drivable for a Ferrari

Nice pictures

I remember reading there are 9 ferrari's in Kolkata. But they rarely come out due to the bad road conditions.

Now with the roads improving, i hope the owners take them out. Guys watch out.

@Dippy, thanks for the correction. The absence of the horizontal slats between the exhaust pipes (which are present in Testarossas') did bug me.

And yes, it was gleaming. Well looked after.

That particular stretch of road is supposedly one the favourites for late night 'road tests' as I've heard from some of my mates.

I had posted this one before - on the BMW M thread, I think.

An old M3 with a CSL badge - at City Centre, Salt Lake.

Isn't there a guy in Kolkotta who collected like 20+ Rolls Royces from pre-independance era? I remember one article where a rolls royce belonging to one maharajah was featured, its interior was made with Ivory!

here are the pics of the Ferrari:

the car was impounded by the Skakespeare Sarani PS Cops.
The Ferrari (convertible) belongs to Mr. Adi Menon (Loudon Street). The b*gg*r (under intoxication) rammed into a Panwala, injuring him and without stopping drove into their house (obviously well protected). All of this happened under broad daylight in front of Akash Bangla News Channel’s Office. That was enough for the reporters to storm into their house (beside my office). The car has the registration number as DL-05 B ****. This happened on 22nd April 2007. the car was at the PS for two days.

shuvd and i tried to take better pics using shuvd's digital cam, but it was not a good idea to take the pics right in front of the PS. i took the pics using my Phone Cam from the opposite sidewalk. sorry for the poor quality pics.

btw, SP_Kolkata (member TBHP) owns a 1951 Mercedes Benz 170S. i will ask him if we can post the pic of his car here.

There are quite a few exotics in the Alipore area.....
Last night I saw the black 997 Carrera Cabrio. The owner was ripping her on the Red Road.

I too saw the Porsche in Park Hotel a couple of months back. I was waiting for the valet to get my car and in comes this beauty. Belongs to a Mr K P. I took a pic from my camera phone (grainy pic). I'll try to search for the pic and upload it here.
Cheers !

Spotted a Toyota Cynos in Sector V today morning. Kolkata plates. Is probably a mid-nineties model.

@toingg - maybe Nobis has a 348 too

Btw, check out the SL500 thread posted by @Karizma_devil. That one has WB plates.
