Spotted-vw-touareg - Bangalore and Mumbai

Well well. The Cayennes` cousin is here. It was seen last night at Carter Road by Iceman and today at Shivaji park by me and Drifter. Looks pretty good. Navy Blue in colour. I dont think most of you are going to oogle at it after seeing the Cayenne.

Stratos, is this the one?

Reviews:
  • The AA:

Any doubts about Volkswagen's ability to create a 'proper' 4x4 have been comprehensively crushed under the formidable wheels of the Touareg. The underpinnings were developed in conjunction with Porsche, which produces its Cayenne from the same platform, but Volkswagen's effort is far more impressive. It even feels classier than its overblown half-brother and is certainly easier on the eye.

  • Cars.Com:

Volkswagen arrived late to the sport utility vehicle party when it launched the Touareg (pronounced "TOUR-egg") for 2004. Considered a "crossover" model, the Touareg is related to Porsche's Cayenne. Initially, Touaregs held either a V-6 or V-8.

Late in the 2004 model year, Volkswagen introduced a Touareg TDI with a turbo-diesel V-10 that produces 310 horsepower and 553 pounds-feet of torque. For 2005, the air suspension that's optional for V-6 and V-8 models and standard with the V-10 has been slightly modified and has a lower ride height. The V-6 engine gains 20 hp.

  • Autocar:

With a V10 diesel heading the Touareg line-up, the 2.5 TDi’s got as much chance of making headlines as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s political opponents. But, unsurprisingly, this £28,600 option – nearly half the price of the V10 – is the one most likely to populate UK roads.

There are two engine options.
  • 240-hp, 3.2-liter V-6
  • 310-hp, 4.2-liter V-8
Stratos, which one did you see?

Now I dont know if it was a V6 or a V8 (I think it even comes with a V10). Just saw it pass from the side and couldnt see its front and back. It had a spare wheel on the back. Looks really nice.

some nice ads..

160 to 300 mm ground clearance + 33 grad angle of repose + 225 km/h maximum speed + navigation system and TV access = Don't go over the top.

70% gross fall + 12-way comfort seat + 750 Nm hinge moment + permanent all-wheel drive = "Wait, I'll show you to the door"

Absolutely. It really looks very good. Infact, personally, I would have this infront of the 911ish Cayenne.

I too saw it in delhi couple of weeks ago . Must say it looks really fabulous , espically the front and i saw the one with the rear tyre mounted and it enhances the rear look like anything , by far the best spare tyre cover and the design i ve seen !

I mean the way (design) the spare tyre was mounted was just SUPERB .
Man , it surely is a killer !

IMO Visually it looks much better than the cayenne !

Yup. Brand new V10 TDi in Bangalore. Not yet registered. Saw it twice. Spoke to the driver. He was nice enough to start it and rev it a bit. You can't make out it's a diesel at all.
