I have heard of that story a couple of years back. I think it was in some auto show on TV.

Agreed, the color is hideous!
BUT, this is probably one of the most innovative advertising campaigns India has ever seen. . . Like they say, any publicity is good publicity!
You might hate their guts for using a Phantom for publicity and so on . . at the end of the day they have more than got their store name embedded in your minds from years to come!!
For some of these college kids who have never even sat in a luxury car, it is a life changing experience which will stay with them for decades!

P.S: @Maverick: This Phantom probably has the highest mileage clocked in India, any info on that? Just to get a rough estimate of how far these guys are going with this campaign.

Sahil

This car has already clocked quite a bit and this just the beginning. The car is now going to make its way all over the country promoting The Mobile Store. Right from north to south.

From an advertising point of view its so much sensible! These companies anyways spend crores of Rupees on hoardings, TV ads and what not. So why not do it in style? Whether the people buy cell phones from there not, the brand is publicised. Maybe they'll buy their next phone from there! India anways has a reputation for using Rolls Royces for the wierdest of tasks! No offence!

Hey Mav, out of curiosity. Are RRs high mileage cars? I mean, supercars like Lambos and Ferraris aren't meant to be driven much. How many kms can the Phantom bear?

Dont know about the current crop of Rolls Royces but the early Rolls Royce (20's and 30's) were legendary for their dependability and perfection and that is why they are so famous. Royce, a perfectionist, designed cars became very famous when one of his car was taken on an international tour by a british merchant. It seems that the car went from London to Egypt and back, some 20,000 KM altogather and only needed a car wash at the end of the trip! The company was aquired by Rolls and called Rolls-Royce.

Sorry I just saw this statement. Sounds like a job for me.

The sound system is a Lexicon. There are 15 strategically placed speakers inside the cabin. Music can also be listened to in surround mode using a system called LOGIC7, invented by Lexicon.
In fact, the speakers, DVD player and amplifiers used in the car are fully studio grade. Very few cars sound this good in stock position.

The company itself is a world leader in high end audio, studio and cinema processors etc. The world's best theatres use Lexicon surround decoders. You can find a lot more info on Lexicon - The Definition of Digital Audio

I have also been told that the car also has some superlative video entertainment using 2 very high quality screens.

Also for your info, Lexicon is a harman international company. The same company that makes JBL and Infinity.
