Mercedes-AMG A45 S hot-hatch launched at Rs 92.50 lakh

Mercedes-Benz has launched the latest AMG A45 S in India. While it may look like a small 4-door hatchback, it costs Rs 92.50 lakh (ex-showroom). That's because it's more than just an ordinary A-Class.

The Mercedes-AMG A45 S is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that generates 415 BHP and 500 Nm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic and Mercedes' 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system. As a result, the A45 is said to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

The 2023 A45 S is based on the updated version of the A-Class. It comes with redesigned front fascia featuring new headlamps and grille, reprofiled taillights, AMG-specific wheels and a roof spoiler.

Inside, the car comes with dual 10.25-inch screens; one for the digital instrument cluster and the other for the touchscreen infotainment system, which now runs on the latest MBUX system. It also gets a new 3-spoke steering wheel with touch controls, updated Mercedes Me voice assistant, and keyless go among others.

This is a very impressive car! As far as I know, The 2.0L inline-4 is the most powerful 4 cylinder engine making 415HP, even more power than the 2.0L straight-4 in the Porsche 718 which make 365HP. The only other engine I know of with small size high power is the Koenigsegg Gamera 3-pot making 600HP.
But since this is a CBU anyway, wouldn't the CLA45 make more sense which has the same engine? The pricing is steep, even for a very fast hatchback. The last version was launched at 79.5 Lakh.

Maybe it doesn't actually produce 421 HP.
