BMW has announced the launch of the 2023 Z4 Roadster in India. The updated convertible is available in the M Performance M40i trim, priced at Rs 89.30 lakh (ex-showroom).



The BMW Z4 gets a few cosmetic updates for the 2023 model year. It comes with a revised kidney grille, larger intakes and sweptback LED headlamps with new internals. The rear features L-shaped LED taillights, a diffuser and an integrated spoiler.



The Z4 M40i is equipped with a folding soft-top that opens and closes electrically in 10 seconds. Inside, the new Z4 comes with a sporty, driver-oriented cockpit. It features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system with BMW OS 7.0. Other features include 2-zone automatic climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay, a head-up display, wireless charging, a rearview camera and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

The BMW Z4 M40i is powered by a 3.0-litre, in-line 6-cylinder engine that makes 335 BHP @ 5,000-6,500 rpm and 500 Nm @ 1,600-4,500 rpm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The car comes equipped with Adaptive M Sport suspension, M Sport brakes and an M Sport differential.

India will receive the new BMW Z4 Roadster as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU) variant.

BMW India has launched the new Z4 Roadster in the country.
It is being offered as the BMW M Performance model – BMW Z4 M40i and is priced at Rs 89,30,000 (ex-showroom).
This is significantly higher priced as compared to the 2019 BMW Z4 which came in at a launch price ranging from Rs 64.9 lakh to Rs 78.9 lakh.
With a design that is a combination of both a roadster and BMW M, the new Z4 is more sporty and visually appealing than ever.
It is set to be brought in as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU) model from June 2023 onwards and will be on display across all BMW showrooms in the country.



Color Options, features:

The new BMW Z4 M40i is being offered in exciting exterior and interior color options.
The exteriors get a non-metallic color option of Alpine White along with metallic colors of Thundernight (new), Skyscraper gray (new), Portimao Blue (new), Black Sapphire, San Francisco Red and a Frozen Grey II (optional).
Taking forward the BMW contemporary design language, the Z4 M40i sports a BMW kidney grille in a horizontal slat design with large air intakes.
It also gets vertically positioned LED headlamps and an elongated bonnet.
Massive wheel arches and aerodynamic air vents are also a part of its makeup.



2023 BMW Z4 Roadster soft top opens at the push of a button and closes electrically in a matter of 10 seconds.
Towards the rear, the Z4 M40i Roadster gets a spoiler, L shaped LED rear lamps and rear apron along with exhaust pipes.
It gets a 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting along with 2 zone air conditioning which offers individual climate controls.
Driver’s seat is electrically adjustable with a memory function, while driver comforts also extend to an M leather steering wheel.
The cabin is seen with several storage spaces, among which are net baskets behind seats, large cupholders and door pockets.

Why Z4 doesn't get same power ratings as Toyota Supra (382HP @ 5800-6500 and 500 Nm @ 1800-5000 rpm) is beyond me! BMW is weird sometimes.

If both engines are making similar torque, then what will matter is where the power comes. Based on numbers you mention, z4 is rated at 5000 rpm whereas the supra is rated about 1000 rpm later. Also looks like Supra has 2 versions - one 400 Nm and one 500 Nm. They might be comparable in their track times or start-stop numbers.

Supra is however lighter than the Z4 i think so it might be quicker anyway!

BMW (or any other luxury carmaker) wont give a better car because people will still buy whatever they sell

Since it’s BMW’s only roadster and their own B58, I expect it have same or better specs than Toyota.
