Lexus launches the updated LC500h coupe in India

Lexus has launched the updated LC500h sports car in India at a starting price of Rs 2.39 crore (ex-showroom).

The 2023 Lexus LC500h looks similar to the outgoing version. Little has changed on the exterior and it continues to feature a contemporary 2-door coupe design. It has the brand's spindle grille with triangular LED headlamps up front and slim LED taillights with dual exhausts at the rear.

The interior of the LC500h also looks identical, except for the all-new infotainment system. It now uses a 12.3-inch touchscreen instead of a 10.3-inch display and touchpad combo.

Powering the LC500h is a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine that makes 296 BHP and 348 Nm. It is paired with an electric motor that makes 178 BHP and 330 Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 249 km/h.

Re: Lexus launches the updated LC500h coupe in India

The pre-facelift had a beautiful dashboard with the screen integrated within the dash, an anologue clock and some detailing on the passenger side. Now they had to plonk in a bigger screen that juts out and without the detailing, the far side A/C vent looks lost.

Also having heard the eargasmic V8 IRL, beats me why they don't offer it in India. Anyway it is a low volume CBU import, then just give the choice to the customer. The 'hybrid only' policy that they follow in Europe can't be quoted here, as they sell the LX diesel in India.

Re: Lexus launches the updated LC500h coupe in India

I'm curious why Lexus India doesn't want to give India their V8 variants for India. I get they want to push the Lexus brand as the hybrid powertrain carmaker, but why not give customers the choice? The biggest selling point of the LC in my opinion is the LC500 with that emotional V8(Apart from its amazing interior and exterior).

True. Once you hear thar eargasmic V8 there is no turning back.

1. It is already a CBU, then what is stopping Lexus from offering the V8 too?
2. The Lexus Europe 'hybrid only' strategy is not an excuse here, since the LX had/has a diesel option.

Guess it is either of hte htree reasons or all.

1. They want to showcase the LC as the Toyota/Lexus hybrid pinnacle, but I feel most non enthusiasts won't even know about the car.
2. Guess since the LC500h shares engine with the LS500h, they can train personnel for the same, instead of the V8 which is not shared with any car sold in India.
3. The LC500 simply sells more than the LC500h in the main markets. So they are pushing it down smaller/insignificant markets like ours.
