The Lamborghini Temerario made its global debut in August last year. The Huracan successor will soon be available in India. It will be launched on April 30.



Unlike the Huracan, the new Temerario uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain, featuring a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine paired with three electric motors and an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The internal combustion engine produces 789 BHP and 729 Nm, while the electric motors add another 148 BHP and 300 Nm for a total of 920 BHP. It comes with a 3.8 kWh battery pack which can be charged in 30 minutes using a 7 kW AC charger. Lamborghini claims that the Temerario can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and has a top speed of 340 km/h.



The baby Lambo carries forward the sleek, wedge-shaped design. It has a low and flat front fascia with slim LED headlamps and hexagonal LED DRLs, and a central exhaust at the back flanked by hexagonal LED taillights.

Inside, the Temerario gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8.4-inch vertical infotainment system. It has a new 3-spoke steering wheel and an additional 9.1-inch screen on the passenger side.

It's unfortunate that manufacturers are caught up in a numbers race for power. Too much power isn't as fun as you might think - you have to pay attention to the throttle all the time!

Owners of this car in India will probably never see full throttle for more than 5 seconds at a time during the lifetime of their cars. And with 3 electric motors (!) I can only imagine the horror of maintaining one of these a decade down the line.

But for those with cash to burn, it's a toy...

Lamborghini Temerario launched at Rs 6 crore

The Lamborghini Temerario has been officially launched in India. The supercar is being offered at a base price of Rs 6 crore (ex-showroom).

The deprecation on these hybrid supercars is depressing. SF90 owners overseas report a loss of $125,000 in 4 years and 296 is also losing $80-100,000 in 2 to 3 years. Temerario will lose the same value and be available for pennies on the dollar in 3/4 years time.

This car is getting a lot of flak for its plastic front and rear, with jokes about it being the Temu-rario. Lamborghini will probably refresh this ahead of schedule.

On the other hand, a high-revving TT V8 presents astounding possibilities, as the old Gallardo and Huracan were tuner favourites owing to their easily accessible VAG engine control systems. I expect to see 1500-2000 hp cars soon enough.

Not in India, where the supply is too restricted and taxes / forex fluctuations play a major role.
