You know, if I didn't dislike SUVs as much as I do, I would seriously consider it, or even a blown X5 M. I'm thinking an RS4 Avant may be pretty sweet too!

No updates, no. The car is fine just the way it is.

Glad to hear. How much has it clocked ? Are you looking to upgrade in the near future?

Do also inform how the maintenance has been, How many sets of brakepads and tyres have you been through? Using the V8 as a daily drive is fun but I want to be prepared for what is in store for it's upkeep.

Hey Kbk_75

How is the long term ownership experience of the car in our conditions? Any advise for someone who is considering picking up a used example? How much to pay? What is the maintenance like for late models E93. I think 2013/14 examples.

The most common issue with E9X M3s is rod bearings. I believe in the later models like 2013/14 BMW claims to have fixed it. (you can google for more information)

I have seen quite a few high mileage M3s (upwards of 150k kilometers) but very few had engine or gearbox (DCT) issues (mostly due to bad maintenance)

Are you speaking from personal or first hand experience?

i was in the market last year for a used sports car and E92 M3 was one of the choices. So I did some research on common issues with M3s and estimated repairs costs

Apart from rod bearings, tie rods are also a known issue, in fact across quite a few models. Majority of the ads listed here where high mileage cars, so basically they all needed suspension and tie rod work. I will not comment on estimated costs as I'm based in Dubai and I think it is cheaper here (with parts ordered online) and presence of local garages that specialises in German cars.

Basic PPI to be done are suspension, engine, gearbox, fluids, any visible leaks, welds and service history (if available). Panel gaps and status of paint will reveal any obvious accident history.

Considering these are last M3s with a naturally aspirated engine and V8, these are going to appreciate in value soon as a future classic
