As much as I love tashni cars, I don't think I would bother with an exotic if I needed to have vehicles full of guards following me around. What a nuisance to take on for yourself. I like to just get in my car with my cousins and head over to sector 17 and park the car and forget about it, or run over to JDs to pick up some sausages or take a drive to the lake with my wife. if I needed to have a gang of people along all the time to watch my car, bah, screw that.

If I had my Elise in India, I would drive it around without guards and I would not take it anywhere it could not be parked without guards.

I am amazed at the extent to which people will go for the sake of ostentation and display of tashan.

PS. My elise attracts enormous amounts of attention even here in the US, with people gathering around it, coming to talk to me about it, taking pictures of it. I expect that it would get the same attention in India atleast. But I can't imagine spoiling the fun for people by having two surly looking fellows around it bullying people to not come too close and generally creating a scene as if I was some big sahib. Is the car itself not enough to make you look great?

On the other hand, given how congested CHD has become in the last 15 years, I suppose you can't really go to any market without running the risk of somebody dinging up your car. So your options are either to not drive it to markets, just to people's homes, the lake, or for trips out of town. But if you have it, you're going to want to drive it and be seen in it, so you need guards to follow you.

I suppose when we have gotten used to servants, drivers, maids to have on our beck and call, when we don't get up to fetch our own glass of water, when we hire people to take our dog for a walk instead of doing it ourselves, how big a deal is it to hire some guards to watch your car.

look people the fact is that here in india people have very bad habits.

people here try to touch and feel cars and bikes.they have no respect whatsoever for anyone's car or bike.

i never touch anyone's car or bike or superbike let alone ask for a drive/ride in/on it.

its like this if you love your own car same is the feeling of the other person so why touch it.but here they will come over as if its their car or bike, start opening the rear view mirrors, twisting the throttle in case of bikes.
they have total disregard for anybody.

its my personal experience being the owner of a superbike.its simply annoying.

even when i park my bike(rarely) i have my driver come and guard it.

i have seen my friends bikes' fallen or rearview mirrors broken due to people touching and feeling it.and even sitting on it.
"sheesh man its not your bike so why touch and feel it.i haven't stopped you from looking or admiring it but why the hell touch it."

even while taking a close up of the carbon fibre roof of the M6 i made sure i don't touch the car.i wouldn't like figerprints on my bike.same way the owner of the M6 won't like on his car.

it is because of this touchy feely thing of people here that these people allot gaurds for their cars.

I understand what you guys are saying.
My comment was as regards to my city alone. In my city, you will come across many mercs on the road, parked outside houses, outside malls etc.
Just count the number of mercs going through ferozepur road any weekday between 9am - 11am and you'd be surprised.

Hence, security isnt required for any C/E/S/SL/CL merc. Park anywhere and people will say, Ho Hum it's a merc only, so what.

But park an M6 somewhere and see how the crowd gathers.

if you guys think this is much... i know a guy in delhi who rides a superbike with a safari in the front and back. Why ride a bike??? at every traffic light he is surrounded by his 8 guys. Its the same when he is in his cars... the best part is that he doesn't get in or out of them till the door is opened for him!!
I keep a guy when i'm going out to a shadi or a club etc to make sure no one touches my car. there is nothing wrong with it... i dont want to see any scratches or dings in my car.

Exactly!! If you can afford it and you want to take care of your car there isnt anything wrong with it.

awesome pics navpreet. I guess the guards might look a little too much all the time but as most of you have pointed out ,some ppl here have this habit of not just admiring such cars and bikes but trying to take souvenirs , like the badges, mirrors or just about anything they can manage .Plus the parkings are not safe at all.

2 of them? I doubt if they've been spotted by BHPians.. Or have they been featured else where on the forum ?

Why's is it shocking? It ought to be taken as good news..We'r getting to see pretty good cars on the streets!
Quite a few people import cars on their own,so nothing out of the ordinary..

It surely works out to be more cost-effective and I think the car remains on warranty even if not bought by BMW India. Please correct if wrong.
