Well you are right kbk, M3 engine transplants are fairly popular in the US, but seldom do people change everything. Its easier to do if you start with a 325i. Starting with a 316 means a lot of changes like you mentioned.

Is being impolite a prerequisite to being considered a tuner? Please man you are a reputed guy. Take it easy bro, its not helping anyone... especially you.
Secondly Im sure you were not refering to the car in the picture being a M3 evolution as then your home would be the one which would be undone. I think your answer was directed at the search part right?
Anyways,
The E36 M3 was never a four door car. It was only produced as a coupe, a fact that seems to have missed everyone. Only on that account, the theory/claim of it being am M3 should have been rubbished!!

Recent iother spottings of this kind have been a fake RHD E30 M3 in Calcutta & another E36 in Delhi which is a convertible!

I guess spoke too soon. I stand corrected. (galti maan lene mein hi samajhdari hai :-D) before the whole plethora of BMW fans come down on me I have to admit that according to this link given below, there were a few handful (collector items now) M3 sedans made. Contrary to popular belief. If no one has known this fact (as myself) before then its never too late too learn. We all live and learn. Read
Sorry ARMotorsport, spoke too soon but admitted it too right??

BMW M Registry - FAQ E36 M3 3.2

But the car in the pic is not that , its a fake M3 sedan!!

You are right it's not even close to M3

Hi Guys,

I think it's a 92-98 BMW 316i.

I own a 316i where 'i' is used for Sedans and that's exactly like it though I have a Dark Red color. The orginal has

1. single exhaust
2. 4 doors
3. orange side turn signal assembly
4. 195/65 tyres on 15" rims

Cheers

BMW PRODUCED that version of the M3 in coupe sedan and convertible body styles

my cousin had a 1997 m3 sedan some years ago in the US.

Kbk, we recently (or maybe it was a year ago already?) reduced the minumum search string length to allow a 3 character search. A search for "E36" should have brought up results (3pages of em).

You could also use google or yahoo and their site specific search.

For example, on google, you could go into their advanced search and fill in the specifics, of you could use the following string in the search box :

OT : Just tested the google search and this popped up....check out more pics of Mpowers car here > http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/introd...okie-here.html

IMHO the "i" in 316i stands for a fuel injected car not a sedan. There were model ranges of 316is and i and 318is and i which were coupes not sedans.

Thanks for that Rehaan. I guess I was searching for E36 M3 and I kept getting an error because of the "M3" part.

I quote from Mpower's intro thread "...E30 vs E36....tough decision.....E30 is more nimble & fun to drive but its too hard-edged for everyday use. E36 is more of a GT....a highway machine. E30 is a karate kid.....E36....is more like James Bond."

Talk about history repeating itself...just replace E30 with E46 and E36 with E92!
