Ariel Atom in Bangalore

My friend works at local RTO and he informs me that last week they registered an Ariel Atom. I am not sure about the specification of this vehicle. It was supposedly registered along with two mini coopers which are said to be owned by lucky Ali ( or his close relatives). I have seen the one of the mini’s. The silver one to be exact..

Also worth a mention is a sighting of Skyline R34 GTR Vspec also known by some as PS2 of the automotive world. Looks amazing in two tone blue paint. It had MH registration plate on it.

Sorry no pic as I don’t carry a handy camera phone.

Hey 917,

The ariel atom is indeed a strange car to have in bangalore!

So finally there is a mention of the blue R34 GTR! (assuming you are sure this is it)... do you know where the car is parked? any chance you could get some pictures?? that would reallly be awesome if you could!

Thanks for the info,
Welcome to TBHP.

It would be difficult to bring the Ariel Atom unless it comes on TR or EPCG because of the homologation exemption requirements i.e greater than $40000, 3000 cc

Never seen any Mini's in Bangalore

But then....miracles can happen !

It's a strange car to have anywhere in this country.

This could be that Honda VTEC 2000 CC+ engine producing 220bhp or more.
Transfer of Residence in this case is possible cause Bangalore is currently going through 'mine is bigger than yours' syndrome.
Something to show on next year Speedrun.

On a serious note it looks...rather...it shows that its a pretty fast car (considering the fact that its got no wildshield)

Read on its a excerept from Jerry himself

Because there is no bodywork (actually, because there is no anything) it weighs less than 500kg, which in automotive terms is an ounce. It makes a Lotus Elise look like Terry Wogan. You could fit such a thing with the engine from a motorised pepper grinder and it would go like Apollo 8, but in fact it uses the VTEC motor from a Honda Civic. And not the weedy 190bhp unit from the Type R either, but a full Japanese-spec version with 220bhp. So that means you’ re getting 440bhp per tonne, and that’s about 100 more than you get from a Lamborghini Murciélago.

Obviously it has lousy aerodynamics, so the top speed is around 135mph, but the time it takes to achieve this is simply mind-boggling: 0-60mph, for instance, is dealt with in just 3.5sec. If that sounds scary, they’re working on a supercharged version that won’t ripple your face so much as tear it off Because there is no bodywork (actually, because there is no anything) it weighs less than 500kg, which in automotive terms is an ounce. hey guys, i just downloaded the top gear episode where the Atom was tested. that version, had a supercharged Civic typr R engine producing 300bhp increasing the power to weight ratio of the car to 600 bhp/ton.

It even managed to beat a CBR 600 RR by a full 4 secs around the top gear track with Jeremy behind the wheel!!!

That is a must have car, this version will do 0-60 in 2.9 secs and will most probably beat that 135mph top speed recorded by the 220bhp version.
