Merc is BIC's official automobile partner and the blue SLS is very much the track's own safety car.

I wonder who gets to steer the beast around the circuit. Pretty big of Merc to give out a SLS AMG for the circuit. Monza have an old Ferrari 348 as a safety car. Usually seen way in the back of the starting grid behind the medical car.

On a serious note, yes its the official own safety car and agree with you, Mercedes-Benz have been magnanimous , but then 1 SLS given away, does that matter to Merc ? (Especially with the interest and discussion its generated, I think they have achieved their goal of virality among the enthusiasts )

The SLS is part of the driver training program with the AMG cars that merc holds.Merc had the C63, E63 and the SLS there and they belong to MBIL.

The Blue SLS AMG is stock but the real track machine is the one i posted pics of earlier, the F1 safety car SLS AMG, its got a proper race belt harness, track seats, racing steering wheel with F1 style paddles and carbon ceramic brakes to brake hard into those slow corners,
Apparently all Merc Track Vehicles are going to be replaced in Sept. next year at the BIC as told to me by an official, one lucky guy in Delhi will probs get a used Blue SLS for a good deal from Merc India, Cheers

Yes I did underestimate our beloved F1 circuit.

I was under the impression that this particular "give away" would hurt them more considering how much more they make on their premium vehicles in India compared to other nations.

As confirmed by Speedy, its owned by MBIL and not Buddh or Jaypee.

From what I remember the white SLS is a part of MBIL's fleet but the blue one is owned by Jaypee people.
