Volvo XC-90 & S-80 Spotted

Hi guys

This is probably the 1st time I am posting a message in this section of the forum. Today while I was on my way to office (Tidel Park) around 11.15am, I was taking the left turn just before Raj Bhavan onto Sardar Patel Rd and I saw this dark blue Volvo sedan zoom past me with a red regn plate. I knew it was an S-80. I was on my bike so unfortunately could not take any snaps.

It was a driver and I caught up with the car and had a nice look. What a lovely car. What road presence. It was a Volvo S-80, D5 (maybe diesel ?) and had a plate saying TN 07 BC TC-45 or something like that.

Further up, just before climbing the SP Road flyover, I spotted the Volvo XC-90, 3.2D (3.2 litre turbo diesel perhaps ?) also being driven by a driver. Same kind of red plates, except the last set of characters was TC-something else.

I read elsewhere in this forum that TC refers to Trade Certificate Regn. Does this mean Volvo is manufacturing these cars in Chennai or probably importing as CBUs into Chennai ?

Warm regards,
Venkat

I believe that the first one is a old generation toyota corolla. the second one is a rover montego and the thrid one looked like a toyota hilaux from the front till i saw the rear pictures of the car with mitsubishi written all over.

First one looks like an old gen toyota avalon, second one is a rover montego and the third one is mitsubishi L200 (similar to toyota hilux).

I think maybe you are confusing twin-turbo with twin-cam.

Yeah, from the looking at the engine bay pic, the engine is definately the 1.8 or 2.0 3S - FE/GE engine sold in right-hand drive versions of this car when Toyora manufactured them in the mid-90's. You can see the K/N aftermarket air intake. Definately no toyota turbo in the picture, let alone any aftermarket.

The first one doesnt seem to be a old gen corolla. I guess its an old gen camry probably mid 1990's. The second one is a rover montego. The third one like another member pointed out, has a very striking resemblance to the hilux surf but the mitsu has gotten me confused.
