Re: Supercars & Imports : Chennai

Read this piece of notice in today's newspaper. It seems the car and the owner have disappeared after the purchase.

It is about AM Vantage V8 Couple

How does an Aston Martin disappear?

OK, I suppose it could if kept as some kind of display piece rather than taken out on the road.

Whilst there must be a story behind this published notice, and it certainly arouses curiosity, I guess the story would probably be more appropriate to a society gossip column than to this thread/site.

It might have been smuggled out of the country, given fake papers or may be it assumed the identity of a crashed Aston Martin (we know of one in Mumbai but that is a Rapide!) and sold on.

Most probably, it will emerge as a barn find 30 years later

Spotted this beautifully maintained Audi R8 in Savera yesterday. Also spotted a red Bentley CGT V8 with black rims and black lettering. Could'nt click a picture of it as I was driving

Must be one of those James Bond Astons. Straight from the Q branch.

Posting pics I took over the past few days. I saw the same Mustang that Rubicon spotted as well.

Re: Supercars & Imports : Chennai

Thanks Shanksta. I've dropped a note to the Mods. Regarding the Mustang, I'm wondering what is showing up in this picture (highlighted in orange). Any thoughts?

Attachment 1629946.
That looks like a front bumper valance/lip. Kind of like a modern day splitter or lip spoiler to improve aerodynamics, but not in that old beast. It's only for show on the Mustang.

Re: Supercars & Imports : Chennai

I understand the "pic or it didnt happen" rule but I have to ask about this CLS63 AMG that I often see on Manickam Ave (off of TTK road). It matte wrapped.
From the looks of it the owner runs a business on Manickam Ave (dont want to mention the name of the place). What I like is the fact that its treated like any other car.
Its a CLS so its obviously owner driven, and its often parked on the street!

Re: Supercars & Imports : Chennai

why is my Chennai thread turning to be super dry these days ?

is it due to the effect of super cars that were impounded by the cops at ECR or due to the extreme weather ?

Spotted this yesterday at North Usman Road, T.Nagar fixing "For Regn" plates.

The Mustang looks like a private import. Anymore information on the same? A strikingly similar car was spotted in Pune as well but it had a Cobra badge on the fenders and a red stripe running through the skirts. However, the rims, calipers and the bobbed antenna were the same on that car as well. Any idea about the engine specs on this one?
Muscle car noob

You cleared my doubts.. Dint post about it in my initial post as I was not 100% sure.

On my first glance, the sticker shop guys were actually reversing the existing plates and i saw that to be starting with "MH"

Also on the rear, the existing emblems (badges) were all removed on purpose. The holes were visible. So in all probability, this could be the car that you are mentioning and its on sale or just got sold thru some used car dealer.

Ah that clears it all.
Recently, there has been a growth in the trend of importing used American cars. There have been a load of Hummers that have come in. Won't be surprised if this one is used as well considering it is an older gen car.
