King air and Citation were erstwhile leaders guys. As such I have or more precisely we (my father) own the C90 (Citation) and Beechcraft.. We also recently purchased a G2(gulfstream) ..
We would be replacing the C90 with the Hawker 800 for local use and getting the G100 for International use.

Well Akshay that isn't completely true.. You know that..
Car can be imported under Carnet I guess, but thats like for 6 months or so. But the point is, one can't keep a Veyron here. No matter what. At least not legally. And we all know that Mr. Tata would never do anything illegal.

Why can not a veyrone be kept here ????? can you give a reason this is the first time I have heard of something like this.

Ahhh...nice! I was thinking of asking you about your planes but didn't want to do it in public!! So how's the Gulfstream? Delivered yet?

A LHD (new or old) cannot be imported by non-special Indians(like us, didnt find a better word) under TR or any scheme.
The only way a LHD can be imported is carnet, but that car has to go back in max 6 months.
LHDs (new or old) can also be brought in the country by foreign consulates.

Also, there are special provisions by which you can import a vintage LHD. But I am not sure how it works.

I hope this answers your query Dinar?

iraghava - We already have the G2 in active use. It's not up for charter yet but the C90 and Beechcraft are. I had some real fun in the G2. Travelled to Chicago via turkey and a few parts of Europe.. Smoothest ride ever and also a very spacy and luxurious interior.

The G100 should be delivered by Mid of May.

Dipen - Even the consulates can't import LHD's now as of 2005.

OT: With some pics too.
@Mods, can we have a new forum for the planes :D

straight6, are you sure it was Ratan Tata driving ?

Why would a Veyron need an escort? Can somebody catch it :uncontrol.

Veyron's GC is 12.5cm and it can drop tp 6cm depending on speed. Can somebody drive with such low GC in India? What if they encounter a speed breaker? Will take a reverse turn & go back or air lift the car? :uncontrol

Also, Veyron costs $1.5m but by the time its leaves the dealer, it will be close to $3m. Thats 12 crores. Add some 100% import duty and homologation costs. The final price in India will be close to 25 crores.

Anyway, the news that Ratan Tata drives a Veyron is funny. Even if drives one for real, it will still be funny.

Unfortunately, I was riding and couldn't take pictures as it was on the highway in Bombay being escorted by bodyguards in Merc's and Safari's. There's already been some debate over that car but no one has been able to get pictures of it. Damn!!

umm no. the 110% would be on the $1.5 mil. so in inddia i guess it would be around 13 crores.

If Ratan Tata indeed drives a Veyron:

man, I seriously would love to see your flyers. planes and cars are the only things which fire me up big time. I can never get enough time to admire all the jets and the other planes lined up at the airport.

  • He is probably the only person in the world to own the world's most expensive production car (Veyron) and the world's least expensive production car (Nano).

when i read this was just wondering is veyron definetley the most expensive now or is it still the clk gtr, or is it the new aero, the present fastest road car.
