Ratan Tata had a 500SL which he very much used to drive. He was known to be very passionate about cars and flying. Rumour has it that when Indica was being designed he wanted to have a car that looked perfect in black.

There was an interview with him in ACI where he poses with his SL500..silver with red interior IIRC. I've heard about the Sebring too.

He is supposed to drive a Indigo to work - and he drives it himself, they say.

I have seen him in a w124 Merc driving out of his apartment in Colada. In the UK, he has as the press quotes..an aging S Class. No doubt, expect these to be replaced by Jags. No doubt, he will pay for them

As far as i know, a sebring convertible, an SL500, an Indigo Marina (assumed to be for regular office use). One thing i have heard from sources is that on the commute to office, he prefers to sit next to the driver and not in the back.

Its Colaba, not Colada. Id think of the W124/W140 as the perfect everyday car for him. Very classy, yet very subtle. The car knows what it is and doesn't feel the need to impress anyone. Some people may not understand its class, but thats what makes it so special.

Rattan Tata drives the Indigo, and is known to tell his company's senior officials to drive good cars (as in Mercs,BMW's ) etc. To which his employees said "Sir how can we drive those when you are yourself driving our own company product" ? His reply was " It does not matter what I drive - people still know me as who I am, but if you do not drive better cars, they may think you are underpaid"

I read this somewhere - can't remember where. The above made sense or maybe it was said in a lighter vein !!!!!!

Cheers
