That was the 450SEL 6.9. I saw one advertised in Auto India in 2001 in Pune. Someone who knows the current owner says that the car is a normal 450SEL

@Jayabusa: avantgarde is a normal C with the logo grill.

This one is the monster C63. 400+ bhp with a 6.2 ltr engine.

@poster:
Great pics!!. The AMG C looks really good and not at all over-stated. Perfect sports sedan for the rich executive

Thanx for the videos tooo...I really got inspired on the way they design a car...I really wish to be at that seats...may God fullfil my dream....

The Car was at the Mercedes Benz plant at pune.It is coming to bombay and the car is already sold.
The on road cost would approximately would be 90 Lac+.

@Jayabusa - Avantgarde is a trim, just like classic and elegance.AMG is the stock tuning department for Mercedes Benz who make totally pumped hand made engines.

@GTA - Ya the last picture is the CLK 350 Cabrio.Similar to the one you spotted in bombay.

@CLS 55 AMG - Bingo.how can you be wrong!!!

@prabu - yes that is a thin white colour film which protects the bonnet lid.This film comes on all the Mercedes Benz cars, even the Indian ones.

@Nitin - Before the launch of the new C Class we had a training for the car,thats when they had showed us those videos at the plant.

Is it just me or is autohangars pricing too high, 1.75 cr for a CLS63 and 90+ lakhs for a C63. The well specd model costs 60k usd, with duties,taxes,reg and other charges should be a maximum of 64 - 70l.

Anyway its a great car, the new owner is sure going to enjoy it.

What? Really?
Man, for that price I'd much rather buy the 650i , that not only has decent speed and power but wonderful handling. Or even the SL for drop top fun.

check Europe prices and not US. Thats where the car comes from. Dont forget to add beautiful dealer margins to the cost of the car. Margins range anywhere between 5 lak to 15 lak for such cars.

I would think it would cost about 75-80 lakhs max. if one imported it himself.

Just wondered, why people order these cars from the dealers rather than just get it themselves ?

For one - the dealers are familiar with the import procedures, taxes / duties, and handling customs.

If you're ready to shell out the big-bucks going through all the hassles just isn't worth the effort - and you rather have peace of mind.
You're safe from handling grey market transactions - and your car is covered (warranty).

Granted many dealers will try to make a quick buck (make that a load of bucks) off you.

If you know someone who handles procedures, then you're right and it will save a bunch of cash - provided the fellow's reliable.

I am sure people who buy cars in this price range would have access to a reliable clearing agent.

Also, is the dealer markup fixed per car or is it car/model dependent or is it customer dependent ?
